the thing is that you are counting featured acts as separate people who hit #1. While i see where you're coming from, it doesn't make sense. As the lead act, equal numbers of males and females hit #1 (5)
Males
1. Bruno Mars
2. Wiz Khalifa
3. Pitbull
4. LMFAO
5. Maroon 5
Females
1. Katy Perry
2. Britney Spears
3. Lady Gaga
4. Rihanna

Well im just gonna say females arent using remixs to get all there songs to top the charts, the only 2 songs that used that were S&M and LFN, but then again the songs did peak at #2 and just were **** blocked. The only male artist that had clost to #1 as a solo artist in 2011 was Cee Lo Green Forget You, which also had 2 versions on itunes.
"Give Your Heart A Break" is rumored to be Demi Lovato's 2nd single from her 3rd studio album "Unbroken"!!! Get that song because it is really good! You won't regret it
the second single is who's that boy, featuring the amazing DEV.

Ehh.. that's a very debatable way to do it.
Of the 50 weeks thus far counted, over 32 of them have had a female lead artist as the #1. An additional 11 weeks had a female feature on the #1. Women are quite clearly ruling the industry this year.
"Take Care" is also holding amazingly. Campus consensus shows it'll be a strong single. Sending it next for Drake would be smart for his label to get a big early 2012 hit!
I need Rihanna to hold her wig at #1 for the LAST 2 weeks in the tracking week and tie Adele
I said before that I hope this stays number-one through the rest of the year. Would be nice if it were the Xmas number-one, though I think (at this very moment) "It Will Rain" will do it. Being #2 won't be a bad thing, though. 400k+ sales for the song will be amazing for it's steamroll to 4-million.
