Wiz Khalifa isn't that bad, his Album is actually really good, I remember how everyone on ATRL praised it, and now you talk like this about him?
Ya'll are so many fake bitches, it's just

And his stuff is much better than all of that generetic pop **** that was put out this year...BY FAR!

Wow. I'm liking the Wiz Khalifa discussion! Makes a change from Lady Gaga who seems to always be discussed here.

Anyway, my opinion on Wiz Khalifa, is that he's great. I love his album.

He's not the best rapper. Lyrically and technically, he's poor compared to other rappers, however, his actual music I really enjoy. The hooks are catchy as hell, and his album is full of anthems. A lot of songs good for parties and stuff (since all he talks about on his album really is women, smoking cannibis and getting drunk tbh).

I also give credit to Wiz because he was using eurodance influences in his songs way back in his mixtape days, before it was the sort of thing that would do well in the chart.

So I do like Wiz Khalifa overall. I like pretty much all his singles (Black and Yellow, Roll Up, On My Level, Till I'm Gone, When I'm Gone, 5 O'Clock, No Sleep, Young Wild And Free, etc.).

And I just like that he's DIFFERENT. So many normal electropop songs at the moment. He has electro influences in his song, but it's just nice that he's different with it.

I'd say Wiz Khalifa is average as a hip hop artist, but when you throw all the pop and dance artists into the mix, he's much above average.

Wiz Khalifa's album was solid. I still listen to it from time to time. But to keep this on the iTunes topic, why didn't his label release "Wake Up?" It did well on iTunes when it came out. It spent about a week at #1.

Haha I feel so proud for starting this discussion
And don't you mean "No Sleep"? I don't even think "Wake Up" was top 40 on iTunes

Ah, yes. "No Sleep." I don't understand why his label didn't release that. Even though it peaked at #6, people only remember or yell out "Black and Yellow" when it comes to Wiz. That could have been another big hit for him. "Wake Up" could have done fine as a single too. I feel like labels don't utilize their rappers after their first major hit or first week sales (see Kid Cudi). I hope J. Cole doesn't fall into this boat. "Work Out" is doing decently at the moment, so is the album.

No Sleep was sent to Pop and Rhythmic and flopped on both formats.

Yeah idk what happened...even though I don't like either song, "No Sleep" sounded a lot like "Roll Up" to me, it would seem like it would have similar success as a single.

And as for Kid Cudi, "Make Her Say" and "Pursuit of Happiness" were the obvious single choices. It wasn't the label's fault, the public just never got into them. Kid Cudi could have had a comeback with "Erase Me", I never got why that masterpiece flopped

I don't know about Rhythmic, but "No Sleep" never got a pop adds date. It got unsolicited plays there. It peaked in the top 40 there without one.

I don't remember Kid Cudi having much promo, though. The label waited several months after "Day N Nite" peaked to release the album. It was always a mistake to let "Soundtrack 2 My Life" miss an opportunity, considering it sold 500k for a non-single. "Make Her Say" was pop friendly, perhaps, but "Pursuit of Happiness" was too emo-ish to be a single, IMO.

About No Sleep, there was a bit of a mess up with Wiz's singles.

They released On My Level as a promo single, and then they released No Sleep as the 3rd official single (and it went straight to #1 on iTunes).

Then, AFTER all that, they changed their mind and decided to promote On My Level as the 3rd proper single instead.

I was confused myself too, since I was wondering why On My Level was randomly climbing the chart a few months later. It'd be like if Hair by Lady Gaga went back in the top 100.

No Sleep did get a music video in the end though. I think they've probably finished with singles from his album now.
