Like so many runners-up before her, Rebecca Ferguson has probably learnt by now that finishing second place on The X Factor is no bad thing. Not only are you almost certain to pick up a record deal anyway, but the public's love for an underdog means the pressure is off from the media to ensure you have time to make a decent go of it.
Judging by her debut release, it's been time well spent. "No money, no house, no car/ Is like love," she calmly ponders over gentle acoustics, allowing nothing but her voice to do the talking - one that is just as raw and shaky as it was this time last year but now with an added hint of diva ambition. Like a bottle of Gentleman Jack, the result is smooth, premium and leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy inside immediately after.
I'm starting to believe the studio version is the official video.
Rebecca will slay the house tomorrow on the X Factor though. So pumped already.
I read somewhere that she shot an actual video though. They hadn't originally planned to release the single until next Sunday, so maybe we'll get to see it next week!
