Sure it sucks, but it's not like it's going to end the era or anything. Even if it's not performed at the AMAs they can still put out an adds date soon and she can promote it on her many other upcoming promo spots.
I'm still hoping whatever they posted on the site is a flub and she is indeed performing "Stronger", but if she's not it's really not that big a deal. The song will still smash on it's own. Also, on other sites I saw people ready to hang RCA and blaming them for Kelly's song choice without knowing for sure if it was their decision, Kelly's or Narvel's.
Let's just keep in mind that Kelly's promo this era, from premiering the single during a live internet event, booking all the JingleBall concerts, interviews, radio tour in support of MKIA, the introduction of the Kellebrities website, allowing the fans to take part of making the music video (I mean, who isn't gonna love a music video and forever cherish it if they themselves took part in making it), the early promo worldwide and all the promo that has yet to happen; this era has been well supported by Kelly, her manager and the label.

Now that you mention it, you're right. Plus, it can boost up not only MKIA, but also the album, which is basically what we want, for KC to get recognition. And also, I mean, be happy she's performing

I'm only watching the show for her
The single premiered on August 31st, it's now November 19th, not even 3 months since the single release, I think it's fair to wait, maybe until December for the release of WDKY where the real promo begins (Jingle Ball, VH1 Divas, etc)
And I mean, let's not forget. MKIA is not the typical first single for KC. But it became a hit,
Top 20 in Ireland, Germany & Canada, Belgium (Wallonia Chart)
Top 10 in US, Bulgaria, New Zealand, World Charts, Belgium (Flanders Chart)
Top 5 in UK & Scotland
#1 In Australia & South Korea
It has sold almost 700,000 singles in the US and more than 1 million worldwide...in 10 weeks people
