In my experiences in D.C. and NYC Britney Gaga and Beyonce probably share equal respect among the gay community with Gaga getting an edge while in D.C. its much more equal.

Sorry, I dont see how Beyonce is a gay icon. Besides a few songs here and there I do not see the beyonce influence in the gay community. I guess I must not be in a beyonce loving community. I see Britney influence everytime. I even remember when HIAM just leaked or was about to. people were talking about it and wanted to go clubbing just to hear it. The gay community was raving... even for rihanna and gaga they did that. Beyonce I heard nothing. I mean sure she might be an icon for you guys, but I just don't feel she is an overall gay icon.
I refuse for gaga because I do feel like she exploits us. I do not approve of her. I will not accept her as a gay icon even if others do!

Lady Gaga is the biggest gay icon of this generation.

But I do think Beyonce is a gay icon in the same way that Donna Summer and Diana Ross are. She doesnt neccessarily talk about the gay community all the time but her Diva status and glam has turned her into a tranny favorite and she's just really fierce tbh. The gays respond to that and especially the black gay community seem to be obsessed with her..

Britney is a gay icon too really, but I have no idea how that happened. If you asked someone they'd probably just say It's Britney Bitch! and that really is all the answer you need. It's just the way it is.

Long before Gaga became known as a big activist for the gay community she was still fighting for their equality and it was the gays who help support her, she performed in several well known gay clubs and when she became a big pop star she still didn't forget about them because she went right back to the community who supported her long before she became a household name.

That's because Beyonce makes more RNB music. Had she made a pile of ***** popping tracks for the gay guys to dance too they would of been here for her. I do remember though all the gays raving over who run the world.

Also I feel like people such as say Janet Jackson or Toni Braxton, Beyonce is more of a black gay icon. Or gay icon of color. Most white gays seem to lean towards like Madonna or Cher, and then you have gays of color who lean toward people like Janet, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj or who name it.

Anyway, I do consider Beyonce as a gay icon and I'm not even a fan of her. Saying that gay icons need to act like activists doesn't make sense to me. Most of gay I know don't care if their favorite gay icon fights for them or not. Like Britney, she's a gay icon for what she represents as a woman, she has spoken a couple of times about how she supports gays and nothing else, but they still love her.
