Edge of Glory, a much more relatable and well-received song went #3 when it was released as a countdown single. However, that did not mean the road to it becoming a hit was easy just because it did well as a countdown single. If Gaga released most of the BTW songs as countdown singles they would have probably achieved a #12 place on BB or better.

I dont see Hair doing too well as a single just because it did well as a countdown single because of hype, if that was so then T-Swift would have a lot of single success on the BB hot 100.

Let's be honest, the reason TEOG didn't go #1 was because it had an unwatchable video, no other reason.

TEOG was competing directly with Party Rock Anthem, not RITD as much.

And no, TEOG had incredible momentum. Then the video ruined all of it.

TEOG had excellent radio play as well. The video did it in

TEOG was released in May, during the rise of RITD. I remember it being number one on iTunes for like 5 days then stayed in the top 5 because Adele *******. Even if it had a good video, PRA would've **** blocked it. (the video came out in July where PRA was everywhere: I think this is what you mean?)
