True. I was thinking of that, too. However, Whitney, Mariah and Celine were excellent vocalists (over-the-top at times), and big voice divas were in at that time, and they represented that to a t. Some of these girls just don't come close. Some of these underrated artists are more reminiscent to those three than some of these artists being brought up. Some of them aren't even known for their vocal talents.

Brandy, for example, isn't a belter. Her strength is really in her tone. Same with Melanie Fiona.

Someone like Jill Scott and Ledisi are great at scatting (among other things), and Jill Scott has done a whistle before.

I like most of these women because of their tone, and not so much their belting.

I just don't feel there is much of a vocal trinity now since a lot of pop singers do not stand out that much vocally, and I actually prefer under-the-radar artists to some of them being brought up.

Well, what is the point of this thread? Because most of these artists being named fail at what you think constitutes as a "vocal trinity." And most of the artists I named do belt, but I said that I like them more for their tone than their belting. Brandy and Melanie Fiona are the only ones who I named that aren't belters, though Brandy has belted many times before.

Jill has done whistled a few times. I just know that she has done it before.
