So yeah... if you wanna say Rihanna is the "Queen" of 2011... we need to clarify where the delusion really is cuz even Christina was on top for 3 weeks at one time with MLJ...

Adele owns 2011.... Rihanna couldn't catch up even if WFL stays (which it wont) #1 for the rest of the year.

Britney didn't really overshadow anyone in 2008. Circus (the album) was a huge dissapointment even to fans, the media started to get tired of talking about her. Her commercial success was moderate at best.

Is this pool only about singles and only about the BB Hot 100?
There are plenty more things to look when you try to define an artist's success. Albums sales could be a good start.

That being said, I don't know how could someone even think of an alternative to Adele as the Queen of 2011; she surely slayed your fave in every possible aspect.

This pool isn't only stricty related to chart success. 2010 was definitely Gaga's year; "Bad Romance" was still strong during the first months, then "Telephone" and "Alejandro" happened, all three with iconic and remembered videos. The Fame Monster was the best selling album of the year with 6M copies. BRIT and Grammy performances. 3 Grammys, 8VMAs, 3 EMAs and a lot of other awards. 200M $ grossing WW tour.

The album debuted with 1.1M in the US and 2M WW. If Amazon sales weren't fair or something like that, Billboard wouldn't have counted them. Not to mention it would have opened with 1.6M WW (which is by far the largest opening of the year) even without the Amazon thing.

my point is that i am allergic to inflated numbers.

i was talking about btw album digital record, which stands at 600k+ and by far the fastest selling digital album in history... an honour which is frankly doesn't deserve.
