Katy Perry's STUDIO RECORDING voice is basically flawless, but we all know that her REAL voice sounds nothing like it. You can't dismiss five videos, five amazing live vocal performances, with the argument that Madonna's STUDIO RECORDING voice is better and that Madonna is "decent live"...are you serious?
Gaga's songs don't always showcase her vocal talent; she does a lot of dance songs and obviously many of them don't show off her vocal talent. If that's what you mean, then I agree to an extent, but you can't just dismiss her live performances considering live performances are a DIRECT reflection of someone's actual vocal talent. Anyone can sound like they have a beautiful voice in a studio recording.
For a studio recording that does showcase Gaga's vocal talent, look here:
You can also actually WATCH the five videos I posted, but clearly you have chosen to ignore them and prefer to delight in your own delusion.

sadly, u didn't get my point.
i was saying that Madonna sounds decent live, where as Gaga sounds crappy live.
Madonna sounds amazing in studio, and gaga just so-so.
So in the end decent live + amazing studio >>> crap live + crap studio.
i know u r stanning and u need to defend those mediocre performances as something outstanding, but personally for me and for many others in this thread as u see, it's just mediocre.
p.s. katy is not that good in studio recordings either.

And I watched it with my grandma and my grandma said "I used to think she had talent, but now i'm not too sure. she can't hold a note without her voice falling flat. i'm so disappointed".
see what i did there?

Sadly, your own hatred of Lady Gaga is rendering you incapable of forming a logical opinion. To dismiss Gaga's live and studio recordings as crap is pure and utter delusion. There is a HUGE disconnect between Madonna's live performances and her studio recordings. WHY? Because her ACTUAL VOICE is mediocre, not horrible, but mediocre. Live performances showcase an artist's actual vocal talent; studio recordings do not. Repeating your lies about Madonna being a better vocalist than Gaga will not make them true. Sorry.

My question is, if Gaga were around during Madonna's time (if they both emerged on the pop scene at the same time)...
Who would have been more successful, respected, etc. in the end?
Looking for unbiased and thoughtful opinions...
Compare their talent, intelect, business strategies, passion, artistic vision, work ethics, relevancy to society, etc.

Even Gaga's haters recognise the strength of her voice. You have been blinded into complete delusion by your hatred of Gaga. It is fairly obvious that she is vocally impressive.

imo Gaga's voice is mediocre. she sings comfortably only in 1 octave, if she goes a little higher it falls flat. the rest she normally shouts. shouting =/= singing.
madonna's voice on the other hand is divine.
professional reviews of their voices:
Gaga:
Vocal Type: Contralto
Vocal Range: 2.5 octaves
Longest Note: 7 seconds
Vocal Pluses: Powerful, passionate voice, with a rock tinge. Expressive voice that does not lean on melisma to impress. High belting can sound like shouting at times, which would indicate bad technique or singing outside of her range.
Madonna:
Vocal Type: Mezzo- Soprano
Vocal Range: 4 octaves
Longest Note: 17 seconds
Vocal Pluses: Adapts her vocal style to the music she's singing well. The middle of her range is her strongest suit: it's solid, with a warm colouring and a clear timbre. Her chest voice is bright and sharp. While her head voice can be either soft and delicate, or direct and solid.
|
I'd love to see evidence of this '4 octave range'. Because I don't think it exists.

im not a gaga hater, but im not a stan either. her voice is decent at times, good at times, crap a lot of the times. so overall it's so so.
for me, calling gaga's voice powerful or strong or better than Madonna's is pure delusion.
shall we say we are even?

=NEX=, come back to the light. All the way to light. Come back. I'm not a Gaga stan, but I won't deny her vocal talent. If you wanna say she has no vocal talent, you need to go back to church. Lord hammercy on you.

Madonna is one of Gaga's biggest inspirations. Gaga would be much different, considering David Bowie and a few other of her inspirations were active then. If she emerged right then, she would be so much, maybe completely, different. There's no way we would really know what she would be like, but she still is great, so anyone saying Gaga needs to realize that and sit down.

|
!!!! This was what I was trying to say. Her career would be so different, which is what people don't seem to understand. Yeah she's talented but so is Madonna, Gaga is successful because of her image and how she carries her self which catches people's attention. If you put her during Madonna's time period she would have nothing really that interesting to use to her advantage to steal attention. Basically she would have to rely on her talent only, but the question is how far would she go with out her current image that is so eye catching.

Imagine Gaga's passion for social politics in the 80s, imagine how she would have contributed to the movements.
What would Gaga have done with her form of strategy to make it to the top?
Do you think she would have this big of a fanbase? And with the connection that she has with her fans today, wouldn't it have overshadowed any idea of 'power' that Madonna had.
I feel like Gaga is so much smarter than Madonna. She has so much to offer, and would have been able to use it a lot more in the 80s. Her theatrics would've been so appreciated, her ability to sing rock vocals, her sky high melodies &choruses. Her sex appeal+strong feminism. I feel like she would've easily overshadowed Madonna.
She has what Madonna has and the musical talent to keep the old and pressed interested.

Guys, don't waste your time. It isn't going anywhere when you argue with that certain member.

Wait, you actually count that video? You can't 'Ay, Ay, Ay' in the background and count it as hitting a high note... Otherwise I would have a much larger vocal range than my current 3.5...

People arguing against a Britney stan about vocal talent
Is your time not more valuable than this?
-
Anyway, Madonna would win. She's a much smarter copycat and her music is great.

Stop with the "who would Gaga copy".
That's a good point! Now think about it!
She's obviously intelligent, do you think she could create something that would overshadow Madonna?
Just think a little...
