The point being. You can have great digital sales, and not great airplay. Chart success equals both, so it can't be lopsided like that. In any case, your statement makes you assume digital sales and airplay are the same, when they are not.

Are these kids serious about Fireworks?
And I was referring to Bad Romance. That whole single alone trumps on anything TD
did. Five #1's mean nothing if the public/the world forget about it the next day.

And to be honest, they go #1 and are gone the next week.
They haven't done much. And the album's sales/charting hasn't been so amazing.
It hasn't won great awards.
It's finished.

I'm done. This speaks for itself, you are seriously clueless on what you claim to know about. I'm out.

Teenage Dream is over with awards. That **** is GONE. The VMA's , the Grammys, it's all out of sight for now. She's not getting any of that in 2012. The awards she has are what she's keeping and won't get any more for TD; Gaga outshines her there.
It's not fair because it's still selling? The Fame Monster still sells, hardly enough to count, but it still sells. It's beaten her WW, and it has more certifications. Single sales? Do you see what Bad Romance has done, with its success, charting and video? That enough is saying.
|
Are you serious? She has a TON of nominations at the EMAs and AMAs and likely to get a few. VERY likely to get a few Grammy nomminations. Likely to get more Billboard Awards, and TOTGA video looks like it's going to be Katy's best, so even more VMAs, and I'm sure that'll get a Grammy nomination.
You guys act like Gaga sweep the Grammys. She only got 6 nominations and 3 wins (from TFM) TD already has 4, so passing 6 noms will be easy, and I think Katy can win two next year. Best Collab and Best Music Video. Next year, she might win two more with TOTGA.

Please... Katy is the definition of longevity when it comes to her singles.

Yea, it didn't get **** blocked at #2 despite having the most viewed video by a female artist on YouTube, many performances, and after coming from a whole successful era.

The fact that it didn't go #1 and still made cultural impact speaks volumes to how successful TFM was.
You just hurt your fave with that logic.

And how many Grammys does she have ATM? Come on, Teenage Dream, the album itself, can't win anymore awards. We're heading into the 2012 Grammys, and it came out in 2010. That's over and done with.
Gaga still did get Grammys, no?
And there, my friend, you just confirmed the success of Bad Romance. Way to go.

This isn't really fair because The Fame Monster was an extension of The Fame and released together with The Fame as a re-release (and the individual EP was only available in the US). Comparing album sales is useless due to that.
Singles wise Katy has the advantage obviously, and that's a big factor because pop stars are defined by the success of their singles.
Tour wise, Gaga kills Katy, no questions about it. The Fame Monster allowed her to become of the biggest touring acts in the world.
In terms of fame and cultural impact, The Fame Monster is way above Katy. Her looks, outfit, attitude during TFM have influenced pop music so much more than Katy's era. In fact one could argue TFM has influenced Katy's behaviour as a pop star significantly, from the E.T. video to her pathetic attempts at outfits (cheese block at the VMas for example).
I give the advantage to Gaga, but Teenage Dream is also a HUGE era and has turned Katy into a major star.

All 3 on TFM's singles easily destroy those local hits and BR is bigger than any other Katy single.

The 8-track-EP album outsells Katy's whole discography both WW and in the country she's kinda popular in.
Tours

Grammys
