But they only covered one song of hers and even the BTW number got over shadowed by TLC's Unpretty.
In all seriousness though they both got three Glee covers.

TFM itself sold around 4-5m max TD probably around the same.
(And no TF + TFM combined is barely at 13m WW, not 17m, mediatraffic/soundscan numbers >>> gagascan numbers) ,
TD was nominated for Album of the Year, so was TFM.
Katy hasn't finished touring yet, so we don't know how she'll gross.
BR is iconic, but "iconic" is very flexible. BR is iconic for some, CG or ET is iconic for others. It's just a matter of opinion. Lets keep the argument objective and stick with numbers.
Not a stan of any of the 2, but to me, TD absolutely obliterates TFM to the ground.

Katy hasn't finished touring yet, so we don't know how she'll gross, besides gaga's 2 is more like 2 tours combined: The Fame Ball + The Monster Ball, so it shouldn't even count. It's the same if Katy will continue touring with her next album and combine the total with this album's tour.

Mediatraffic is website that is based on estimations. It doesn't even include every chart worldwide.

Talking worldwide, of course...
This isn't really fair because The Fame Monster was an extension of The Fame and released together with The Fame as a re-release (and the individual EP was only available in the US). Comparing album sales is useless due to that.
Singles wise Katy has the advantage obviously, and that's a big factor because pop stars are defined by the success of their singles.
Tour wise, Gaga kills Katy, no questions about it. The Fame Monster allowed her to become of the biggest touring acts in the world.
In terms of fame and cultural impact, The Fame Monster is way above Katy. Her looks, outfit, attitude during TFM have influenced pop music so much more than Katy's era. In fact one could argue TFM has influenced Katy's behaviour as a pop star significantly, from the E.T. video to her pathetic attempts at outfits (cheese block at the VMas for example).
I give the advantage to Gaga, but Teenage Dream is also a HUGE era and has turned Katy into a major star.

The Fame was more successful the The Fame Monster.
TD ***** on TFM.
More album sales.
More single sales.
Soon to have more Grammy nominations.
Possibly get more Grammy awards.
Much longer longevity.
YouTube views are quickly going to surpass hers from that era, and will be ******** on them there after.

They cover about 95% of global sales.

TD was nominated for Grammys last year, so surely it isn't eligible for further nominations.
As far as album sales go, TD has sold less than 4M worldwide. TF+TFM is over 16M, and the majority of those sales came from the re-release.

One of the most reliable chart trackers has TFM at over 16M. I'd go with that rather than Mediatraffic.

Do I know you. Where did "you always hate" even come from?
I like Gaga & Katy equally. They are both on the same line in my sig.
I just dont like delusion & inflating numbers. And lil monsters are known for being guilty of both.

Yet, Gaga had none and was still very successful. #1 singles are pretty much irrelevant in this argument.
