True, and I appreciate the fact that they're capitalizing on her biggest market, but that still doesn't make up for the fact that they haven't done anything here in the US. Part of the reason as to why these pop girls used to () sell so much here was because they have big opening numbers. We both know Rih isn't a strong first week seller, but picture how easy it would have been for Loud to go 2x plat in the US with stronger opening numbers. Gaga had her face plastered on public transportation...they put so much effort into that campaign and I never feel that way with Rih. Maybe we'll see a full-fledged promo campaign one day, but as a stan right now it's just disappointing.
Stronger first week sales is just a catalyst of what is inevitably going to happen with a successful album anyway, with the amount of hits that were on Loud, the album was still selling strong a fair while after its release.
You do have a point with the GaGa statement though, that promo was massive.

I respect what Kh-Loud and Grim are saying, and it makes sense. I also want to say though, why does US success matter so much? I mean this for everyone's releases, not just Rihanna's. If Rihanna is smashing WW with the risk of debuting lower than usual, then what is the problem? It's a proven fact that Rihanna isn't local, so if she is able to achieve moderate success in the US and high success elsewhere, then I am more than fine with that.

She already proved more than once that she is a force to reckon with internationally, ERUOPE to be more specific. However, it isn't hurt to have a huge success in the US either. At the end of the day, she is still a US base artist.

Because when you see the type of promo the other girls are having it makes you wonder how much potential Rih is storing by not having half as much promo as them. I'm not disappointed with her numbers at all nor do I care about getting a #1 album here, but it's just a "what if" thing that could easily be answered if they actually started a big promo campaign. I feel like if you're going to start a new era you should put your all into it, but how is she supposed to do that when she's still on tour supporting her previous era? It's too much at once and it's frustrating.
