I think "Teenage Dream" (the song) was fairly well received by critics. but then again, some people just hate pop music. and some people see a pretty girl making pop music and immediately react with, "it's trash, it's unoriginal, it's basic..." without even giving the music a chance.
I do think that critical reaction to the album as a whole will shift over time to be more positive. very few critics thought Katy was going to pull 6 consecutive #1's off this album - but as time goes on, many of them will be clamoring to claim that they saw it all coming...
I see you are the one that has become disillusioned. 
Didnt the (a) katy Perry cd get a limited release in Japan, where is the Japanese KatyKats??
