Britney's able to sell out tours because of what she accomplished in the past, not for what she's doing today.

I agree, but Britney IS still relevant in music today. A big part of her success is because of the prime times, but her current carrea is pretty stable and successful. Even though her singles don't make same impact from before, people still use and like her songs, and that's because she keeps getting new fans. A big part of her fan base today are made of really young people, who were kids around 2001-2004, and now are appreciating her music, both from the past and present. I think she's more up to date and modern than ever actually.

It's not my words but rather what you basically said but re-worded it to make it not sound as bad.

It's more because they follow what's popular on the radio now.

And no one is saying Christina has it in the bag. She's going to need a lot of luck and hard work. But there seem to be greater possibilities and room for growth.

It's not just her singles, her album isn't selling either. It's already dropped off the UWC and its sales were very lacklustre. Her career isn't stable because she's currently in decline. I don't think anyone should be panicking yet, but the signs going forward aren't promising. It's not often that a 29 year old has to rest on the laurels of her past accomplishments.

That's some anecdotal evidence, sis. Britney has always had her supporters and her detractors—on ATRL and in the real world.

Well then. As I said earlier both Christina and Britney will release their first post-30 studio albums next year. We'll all see very soon how it pans out.

she may not be at her peak, but she is not a hasbeen. the fact that someone would judge something like that by albums sales is a travesty. and the fact that she is still mentioned in the same breathe as the current girls just proves the argument invalid.

Well I won't argue with you about that. I think Britney still in a pretty comfortable situation, even for someone who's in the business for more than 10 years and has been through all that. And I think she's not in better place right now because of herself (and her team). I think Britney has plenty of space and potential to go back to her prime success, even bigger than that, who knows.

Britney Spears has a massive fanbase, which fuels much of her current success. Along with some classic Dr. Luke production.
I question her longer term commitment in her career however, once this whole era is wrapped up. For that reason, I don't see her doing much beyond her perfume line etc. 10 years from now.
Xtina IMO = JLo 2.0 She'll keep hanging around becaues of her TV presence, but she's just so irrelevant right now that it'll be hard to come back.

Lady Gaga is improving with choreo.
Xtina turns her head up fiercely and that counts as a dance move.
