Negative. The reason songs like "Crazy" & "Oops!" even went top ten was due to the heavy radio play, since they were not for physical sale (JIVE forcing people to purchase the parent album). The Britney & Blackout eras are truly the only times Britney and Pop radio bumped heads. The former due to the blacklisting from not sponsoring with Clear Channel, the latter due to the obvious stigma around Britney at the time.
"Me Against The Music" got a little snubbing, though better than all of Britney singles...but "Toxic" until "I Wanna Go", her radio success have been good. ("My Prerogative" & "Radar" aside).

Same here. I'm in that age group, and honestly I remember kids singing BOMT and OIDIA, but I don't really remember any of Christina's hits at all, except GIAB, but I didn't even figure out it was her singing that song until about a few years ago.

...Baby One More Time sold 1,4 million of physical copies in the US. The physical single was released on November of 1998 so the numbers of 98 aren't included on that Top.
Baby One More Time - 1,411,000
It also ranked higher than Genie on the Billboard year end chart of 1999:
Billboard Top 100 - 1999
01. Believe » Cher
02. No Scrubs » TLC
03. Angel Of Mine » Monica
04. Heartbreak Hotel » Whitney Houston
05. ...Baby One More Time » Britney Spears
06. Kiss Me » Sixpence None The Richer
07. Genie In A Bottle » Christina Aguilera
