Although I was very surprised too when aang and katara came together in the end. Because Katara didn't show any sign that she is in love with aang in the whole series. And we all know that Katara can't hide her feelings b/c she is a very open-hearted person.

Aang and Katara felt so weird for me. I don't know. Like, I know they were only 2 years apart, but she seemed so much older. I blame the artists of the show (and the fact that Aang's voice actor sounded like he was 9 years old while Katara's sounded 20), frankly. And I agree with you. I knew Aang was totally head over heels for her, but she never really showed much interest.
I kind of shipped Aang and Toph. I don't know why because it's just so random.
And Sokka...I never really cared who he was with. Suki was a bamf, though.
I'm also a sucker for the bad boy with good girl romance. And the fact that Zuko and Katara were polar opposites (literally...fire/water). It seemed so perfect to me!! (And the makers of the show admitted that they originally were going to put them together.)
I dunno. Maybe I would have shipped Katara+Aang if the voice actors didn't have such an extreme age difference. lol.
