I clearly missed a few words, as is my punishment for typing on an iPod. I clarified what I meant later on.

It's based on shipments, so it doesn't actually have to SELL that much, which is hasn't.

No matter how many singles she's sold anyone who can get a multi-platinum album isn't just a singles artist.

You're comparing Rihanna's THIRD album with Katy's SECOND.
Let's compare their respective 2nd albums.
TD: 1,800,000 albums
AGLM: 1,300,000 albums
Plus, GGCB had a re-release and about three more years of sales on TD. If this re-release is true about TD I'm sure it'll match and pass GGCB.

No. When your album has five #1 singles and you only sell 2,000,000 in the US and 4,000,000 WW, you're a singles artist.
Being able to sell one album =/= album artists.

if this was the 90's or even early 2000's katy would of sold 5 million in the u.s for 5 number 1 big singles...in the 90's all a r&b artist needed was 1 top 40 hit and the album went platinum lmao

Give a ****, about if she is a singles artist or a an albums artist
So? She can sell in this industry
Everyone with their own opinion
This is not like a huge achievement but give a f**k! I enjoy it

I really cannot with Rihanna stans, like really? That is the biggest ki of atrl, as if the rated r era didn't happen, as if her albums arent full of generic dance tracks and pop ballads, as if ckb isn't big girls don't cry, as if her discography doesn't fade away with the era it dropped in, as if she wasn't a singles artist and questionably still is, as if Rihanna has scanned close to 2 million with an original cut, as if Katy and Rihanna aren'tbffs
I am consistently perplexed as to how Rihanna stans can even font Katy in negative light no matter what the subject

i think mainstream artists like her would have indeed sold 1m copies of the album by every new #1 single in the US AND internationally.. which would have put this album at 10-12 million (had it been released in the industry's golden times)

Then we also might as well certify Born This Way 7 times platinum.

You're completely missing Rico's point though. GaGa opened with 1 million+ in May and look how fast her sales have shrunk. She'll rebound a bit with MTN and the holidays but his point still stands. 2x platinum is the best Wayne can hope for too.
