Ugh, Britney and Christina came out the wrong time in terms of single sales.

That's not really fair. The reason why Britney's album sold more was because the market is different. People don't buy albums anymore mainly because of the albums. If you look at her albums sales you can pretty much see that her albums always decrease in sales. It's not because her current albums are better than her old ones, it's because it's a depleted market.

And for the same reason (different market), Katy and Gaga have had huge singles in their first few eras. At their peaks, of course they'll sell more singles than Britney is on her seventh album with moderate hits.

And for that reason this...
britneys album sales > gaga + beyonce+ rihanna + katy sales
Should be ...
britneys album sales \ = \ gaga or beyonce or rihanna or katy sales
You can't compare album sales from over a decade ago with current single sales. You just can't.

Yes. and That's why i only compared Gaga, Katy and Ke$ha.
I also compared Rihanna because she's not really a single artist as you guys say. Her single sales are not that great either. Even ke$ha has a higher average per single because RiRi has many flops. (no shade, facts only.) But her hits are definitely huge smash.

sorry sorry. I have no time to find all her figures because she has so many album + singles, and all those figures are not being updated. I'm having difficulties to find figures because i browse through pages by pages in ATRL, Pulsemusic and Ukmix. They don't have much old data. So i gonna use yours until i find more accurate one.
Thanks

Yea, I wouldn't call rihanna a single artist either, because for every good hit we get a flop. Same thing with Britney and Beyonce.

Because Taylor is Country + crossover to pop while Britney is solely pop ?

IF we compare albums sales to singles sales, we will know who is a single artist.
Gaga with average 4.4 singles to 1 album while both Katy and Ke$ha are above the ratio of 10 singles to 1 album sales.
Rihanna is around 5-6 singles to 1 album sales.
Clear ? stat shows us all.

Taylor Swift is amazing by having all her singles except The Story of Us and Sparks Fly over 1million !!
Beyonce's new album "4" just outsold her all her singles from the album. Album seller !!
Katy's singles sales are amazing as hell ! Especially for TD era.
Gaga will be having trouble to send Judas and You and I over 2m, making Ke$ha the only artist currently has the title of "Having all singles over 2m".
Rihanna's Cheers is picking up, but then suddenly We Found Love is out. We'll see how much WFL affect Cheers chart run

She's only had 3 songs that didn't go Top 40: We Ride, Rockstar 101, and Man Down. Other than that, all her songs have made the Top 40.

i think what he meant by "flops" are those which did extremely bad and didn't reach top 20 (Te Amo, CKB, Man Down, R101, We Ride, IILTYW, Rehab) compared to those which do extremely well (all those #1s).
I noticed that Rihanna will at least have one so-called flop in each era:
MOTS - IILTYW
AGLM - We Ride
GGGB - Rehab
RR - Rockstar 101, Te Amo
Loud - CKB, Man Down

but but but .. they are not major pop stars ... more like teen stars to be honest.
It would be too much to add everyone into the list. JLo, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey ... would be all too much ..
Yeap, Taylor is really selling albums like hot cakes. She has country and pop audience, so she has competitive advantage over other pop-only girls.

Top 40 is hardly something to shout for joy for.
When almost of them get into the top 10, come talk to me.

So far, Gaga and Ke$ha only. That's because they're still very new, thus less singles released.
Ke$ha team is smart to stop releasing singles once the hype for the era disappear.
I just wanna shade Katy because she could've been in the feat with the other two but she missed with TOY while Gaga luckily squeezed through Judas. Haha ! (kidding)
