Considering that this is Rihanna I don't expect the actual album to stray very far from Loud. And usually the lead single sets the tone or pace rather for the rest of the album. However I didn't comment nor do I plan to really state an opinion on the album until it's released and I've heard at least most of it in full. My comment was simply about the single and the fact that to ME it sounds like a Loud reject.

There is a banner, but considering that outside of ATRL the single was pretty much unheard of, this is pretty good nonetheless.

Also to the "insider" who says he listened to the album, we don't believe you.

First listen, it's kinda wack TBH. Kinda like a watered down Only Girl. With lamer lyrics.
But it seems like the kind of song that, while it will grow on you and you'll end up jamming out to it, you still will never really "love" it.
And why are her vocals weaker? She's shown pretty good vocal improvement over her 6 year career, but this is a regression... Just sayin'.

Nevermind
I have a feeling this is the only Calvin Harris track on the album. and if New York Days, LA Nights is on the album it's a lot different than We Found Love.

Wait--
"Rihanna - We Found Love (feat. Calvin Harris)"
I hate when producers do that. I thought it was only DG, but I guess not.

I guess we're all entitled to our opinion, but to ME it sounds nothing like anything Rihanna has ever done. It doesn't sound like anything that would've been on loud, but rather a mix between the sounds and tones of Rated R and LOUD. After hearing the first single, I'm not sure of what direction the album is going to go in. To me, even though We Found Love has a dance beat and is very digital, there's something very dark, naive, and mysterious about the way she sings the lyrics. You can also hear her vocal improvements.

I don't hear vocal improvements at all lol. But what I will say is that New York Days and L.A. Nights better make the album. The song is so hot even the demo has been on repeat over here However I still stand by my opinion that she should be setting trends at this point and not simply following them. Beyonce (although I don't really care for her music) could have easily gone the dance pop route but she chose to make R&B music and not follow the current trend. Rihanna by comparison is on her sixth album and is still more of a follower than a leader. If she wants actual longevity in my opinion she is going to have to do MUCH better than this.

I don't actually know anything, but I THINK that some of the things we're going to have to unlock will be the album title, the album cover, the album tracklist, the WFL video, and maybe the second single if this "unlocked" promotion continues that long. I really doubt it will, though.

Really? Her vocals sound much weaker than Only Girl, California King Bed, etc.
Maybe it's just me.

What trend did Rated R follow?
Loud had a blend of all genres so what trend did Loud follow?
