it is a different generation, there will always be a niche for a singer like Adele but she will not last in the mainstream pop dominated world. This is a phase and it will pass. People like a little more variation and excitement to their musicians these days. We all still listen to Aretha and Ettas classics but there is a reason why there are no new Ettas and Arethas that are around for long.

Blah. You've been typing the same **** to me over and over again.
Mainstream success is not guaranteed for anyone. That's why there are niche markets. Stop speaking for everyone else. Like who you like. You sound just as pretentious and snobbish as the Adele bandwagoners, and you do it a lot to other artists.
And as much as I LOVE Florence, do you actually think her style of performance will keep her in the pop limelight longer than Adele? I can name so many artists who perform the way she does, yet falls from pop grace. Her style isn't anything new either.

Not really, I like Adele and you do seem like a genuine fan but those are few and far between. I don't care if she is successful etc etc what I do care about is everyone going oh this artist and that artist are rubbish now that our savior Adele is here because she is the best at everything. She isn't, she is a very specific artist and what she does she has mastered hence her success, she is the best at what she does at the moment and she deserves that success but she is not some musical messiah and people need to quit acting like she is.

You girls seriously need to stop letting these 'bandwagoners' and what they say change how you feel about someone's music or them as artists. This whole "Adele is overrated" thing stems from people letting other folks cloud their judgments, which is ****ing sad. I would never stop liking or appreciating Beyonce because her fans think she is the greatest thing to ever hit the music scene. Same with any other artists I claim to "like." Do you see me saying shady **** about Florence because right now, it seems that she has more bandwagoners than Adele right now.
And stop acting like this whole "Adele's fans act like she's a savior to music" thing is only limited to Adele. GaGa fans did the same **** when her ass blew the **** up and they still do it.. Ugh.

Why are you being rude? Sorry, but I haven't heard of Florence before. I didn't even know if it was a band or a singer or whatever when I first opened the thread. That's all.

I haven't let anyones opinions on Adele affect how I enjoy her music, I simply don't talk all the time about how much I love it. I am shading Adele and praising Florence in here because people are making blind statement about Florence when I doubt half of them have listened to one Florence song or 3 Adele songs.
I don't really care about how other Gaga fans act, no-one is the savior of pop music. Adele isn't a pop girl so that is pretty irrelevant anyways. You seem to be pretty angry that I don't praise the ground Adele walks on. It's an opinion, I like her music but in general she bores me. Please stop acting like because I only talk about a few pop girls here that my tastes in music are shallow, I talk about pop girls because this is a pop music site. I'm a classically trained musician and I listen to almost every genre of music, let's not assume things we know nothing about please.

I'm not being rude I'm sorry, that was one of many posts that said the same thing that I read, yours was just the one I quoted. I guess a nicer way of saying it is if you haven't heard one of the artists in question there isn't much of a point commenting in a 'reasoning' thread. Florence is not an unknown, she is very popular in Europe and played the VMAs last year, you should look her up, she is very talented.

You are shady of Adele for all the wrong reasons. If you don't like Adele, that's perfectly fine. She's not your cup of tea, but you are really no better than the bandwagoners who are taking jabs at Florence, and let's not act as if Adele hasn't been getting dragged up and down this thread by Florence bandwagoners. Most people are tired of Adele, so now they're Florence "fans." Girl please. Why else was this thread created? They aren't even that similar.
I couldn't care less about you or any other ATRL member praising or worshiping the ground Adele walks on, and I really don't care about your taste in music, and I never called it shallow either. You like what you like. I just feel like some of you are e-puppets.

I've been a fan of Florence for over 2 years and I, and most likely you too, have been a fan of Adele since her 19 days before most people had ever heard of her in the states, before her grammies and before she became totally over-played.
I'm not a band-wagoner and obviously neither are you, it is not YOU or the other genuine Adele fans who bother me, as I have already stated but you appeared to have ignored. It's those who probably only have RITD and SLY on their ipods but still say she is better than everyone else, and those types are very transparent and very annoying. You were implying that I only like shallow pop music and almost sounding like a music snob, it wasn't appreciated so I commented on it. Let us not turn this into a personal thing, it isn't. We have differing opinions, that is that.

I have not ignored anything. I acknowledged ALL of that and the reasoning behind you dragging Adele, and all I can advise you to do is ignore those types of fans because they always come. GaGa, for example, had them when she blew up.
I didn't say you only liked shallow music, and I didn't imply it. Obviously, you are a fan of GaGa (me too) and Britney, and you have said so on here on numerous occasions. You expect Adele to put on a similar performance style as them (I'm just assuming this) in order to have some sort of longevity because that's what YOU like. That's all I meant. I appreciate all styles of performances, as long as they are good at what type of style they do. Obviously we have differences of opinions.

Cap, you're getting desperate here. That's the second time you've used
that obnoxiously generalized statement. Because people aren't fans of
Adele, we're letting others decide for us? RLY? In that case, the same
"argument" could be said for the reason why people enjoy Adele.

I don't expect any style of performance from Adele other than what she gives, that is her artistic style and it will not change. I like her performances it is all about the vocals, do I like other performances more? Yes. But my point was that people will tire of her because she isn't all flashy and she doesn't change all the time. She said in interviews she won't play big arenas and that is all fair play to her. But she will not last mainstream wise. That is all I was saying. This is a phase, it will pass. She will always have success because she is hugely talented but on a much smaller scale.
Florence has the potential to break into and last in a more mainstream environment, in my opinion.

No. It's the folks who keep bringing up her bandwagoners as a reason to shade or not like her. I couldn't care less if you're a fan of her music or not. Like I said, that is your personal preference. What I hold issue with is the whole "I don't like Adele or I'm tired of her because of her bandwagoners thinking they have music superiority." Nothing desperate about what I said. Just calling out folks like YOU who keep bringing that up, not non-fans of Adele who just have no use for her either way.

I can appreciate this.
But why do you think Florence could break into and last in a more mainstream environment? Florence is the definition of a niche artist. Her music isn't universally appealing, and rock/indie artists rarely, if ever, break out the way pop stars do. She's kinda like Arcade Fire, Mumford & Sons and many other alternative acts. They aren't meant to be huge, at least not for a very long time.

This is only applicable to Adel though, you can say that about every artist.

I was only applying it to Adele, where did I mention another artist or say it was applicable to any artist?

I meant I could see her lasting longer than Adele purely because she has more variety. I honestly think they are equally talented women and they both deserve huge success. Adele has mastered and dominated the ballad department but I don't see her mastering anything else. Florence has the advantage of making uptempo and much more lively music that is still different than pop. I'm not saying she will last albums and albums in the mainstream market but I think people will tire of Adeles ballads and Florence can give more variety. Perhaps Adele can too but not with this album and we have yet to see her prove she has variety, her music is beautiful and the best of it's kind of the moment but it is all quite similar.

You're implying that it's a bad thing in comparison to Florence. So I guess what I am wondering is, what's your point? Why did you bring the "niche artist" thing up? The comment was completely unnecessary.

That what is a bad thing? Being a niche artist? I'm not implying that it is a bad thing. Please read all of my posts if you want to get into it, I really don't want to repeat myself. I'm saying Adele's mainstream success won't last and I feel that Florence has the potential to last longer in the mainstream world due to her variety.
