No 'commercial radio' is what Capital, Heart, Galaxy, Kiss, Absolute are referred to as because they have 'commercials'. Radio 1 is a public funded service.

Radio 1's probably the biggest radio station in the UK
and it's definitely more commercial than Kiss 100, Heart and Galaxy. I don't even know what Absolute is.
Kiss 100 is more Rn'B, House, Dubstep, etc.
Heart 106.2 is mainly 80s, 90s and 00's, with some recent pop hits.
I've never listened to Galaxy or Absolute, and that must mean something
But BBCR1 is the biggest CHR radio station in the world. It gets more listeners than Z100
The only radio station in the UK that is bigger than BBCR1 is BBCR2, and Y&I is A-Listed there as well.
Do you really want me to start listing the amount of hits that Radio 1 has blanked. Marina got supported by Radio 1 and completely ignored by Commercial radio and flopped. Commercial radio is hugely important. Hurts get heavily supported by Radio 2 but have sadly gone nowhere because their sound isn't commercial radio friendly. You need support from both basically.

I just explained to you what the expression commercial - within 'commercial radio' means...it's about advertising.
