I think what pisses everyone off most about Born This Way (the song) is that Gaga pretentiously set out to make an anthem for the gays that was applicable to all people and succeeded. People may say they hate the song, gays may be mad she felt she could do such a thing, and Britney stans may hate her for breaking all of HIAMs records, but at the end of the day, I've heard the song blasted at every gay gathering I've been to in the last 7 months.
Me too. I would gather around my friends in a party and we all would kill the dancefloor to the ****ing song. Don't know what we will do when she plays it at the BTW Ball. I'm gonna go nuts.
True tea! It's a song that divided opinion....but WHO ELSE has managed to release a worldwide smash with the words gay, lesbian, transgender and bi in it. It had a big impact and will continue to do so.
None of the popstars are above it. Why would they think they are? The public doesn't take them or their music that seriously. What they want from them is fun. Even Beyonce, with her 16 Grammys, is still waiting to spend a single week in the Hot 100 Top 10 this era. Give people what they want or suffer the consequences.
And if you're going to put out music that deviates from your past successes, you better make sure it's ****ing amazing.
We live in a hypocritical circle: we all realize that pop is utter **** yet we continue to support it.
I'm not denying the album is performing excellently, but only a deluded idiot would think it's had the same commercial and cultural impact as TFM.
Did Oops! sell as much as Baby...did Spiceworld sell as much as Spice...did Like a prayer sell as much as true blue...did Up! sell as much as Come on over. No to all the above. I think you expected too much.
Yeah but considering your a fan you seem obsessed with these points. Maybe you are a naturally negative person? My cousin is a very pessimistic person...he really knows how to bring the mood in a room down. Maybe that's you too.
there's a stretch line between being pessimistic and being realistic. Still, I don't agrre with Doctorice's opinion. BTW is still beginning, you know, and it has so much to offer. Prepare to live one of the best eras in pop music.

This is the first time I've ever posted about this particular topic. If anything I'm usually being positive about the progress of this era, but just this once I spoke about the album in the context of commercial potential of the songs. How you think this reflects on me as a person in the real world I'll never know, but maybe you can ponder your thought-process in ban land.

It's starpower, I don't think people care about the lyrics when they listen to music, melodies and repetition are more important. And starpower and repetition don't detract from the song being utter ****.
I'll be impressed if someone can debut with a gay-centered song, it won't happen.
So you truly think it's a better genre then rock/indie/alternative?
Yes, some of it is good, Gaga's early stuff, Robyn, Madonna etc. but the big stuff is just repetitive mind mush.
I enjoy it more than those genres, yes. But it's all dependant on personal opinion, so you can't just say 'pop's ****', and classify every pop song into one group.
I'd just like to say that I hope U&I peaks at number 4! I was checking her track record and if that happens she has gotten a number 1,2,3,4,5,6, and a 10! soooooo her next singles need to hit 7 8 and 9 so we can say she has produced singles that have hit every number Can you tell I like collections? muah
The CW's "Gaga by Gaultier" special averaged 1. 44 million viewers and a 0.6 key demo rating, which may not sound like a lot, but it was the network's biggest audience since the "Supernatural" finale back in May.

Tuesday, the network aired a Lady Gaga special, Gaga By Gaultier, that drew 1.4 million in its 8 p.m. time slot -- its most-watched hour since the Supernatural season finale in May. A fall preview (968K, 0.4) of its programming followed.

Yet the majority of people think that rock/indie are superior genres. And I didn't, a lot of the 'big' pop is ****.
