DEAD at you thinking I have to be against all the things my opponents say.
My point is that Nicki's outfits and multiple alter egos are a gimmick, but that they aren't fake. She's using a part of her personality and exaggerating it for attention. No shame in that, all stars do that. Her music is not pop; it's very much hip-hop. She only has to do the pop music to cater to a fanbase she gained through all the features she did and continues to do. I'm sure she'll take a grittier image next era, and that she'll continue to go down the hip-hop route. This is all a starting point. And I'm also saying she's not a Gaga copy.
I now fully see your viewpoint.
To say Nicki's alter egos are gimmicks, but aren't fake, is nonsensical. "Gimmick"
is another representation of the word "fake." Nicki Minaj's music is pop... and
hip hop. And yes, she's drawing from mainstream influences in terms of
"style," and that includes people like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry.
Her entire look is a travesty and the laughing stock of the fashion world. This is the typical ghetto fabulous, "I think I know couture" look. What a damned shame.
Perhaps. I'm not sure. But like I said, it helps that she is the only female rap artist out now. Image wise, she may be "GaGa"ish, but musically, she's different enough not to be confused with someone like GaGa. Do you honestly think radio stations care how a person looks? If the song is catchy, they'd play it. If they play it and enough people like it, they'll buy it. It all comes down to the music. If anything, her being seen as the "Hip Hop version of GaGa" could be helping her more.
All true. But my whole point is that Nicki can't be a Gaga clone if she's having the success she's having. If Nicki were doing everything Gaga was doing, almost down to the T, then she'd either have a lot of trouble or a lot of negativity surrounding her. She has neither of those (at least until recently).

And let's not sit here and act like Nicki is the only artist that dresses flamboyantly for attention. Some of you have a LOT of nerve.
Sis I'm not. I admit that Gaga has heavily copied other artists, dresses the way she does to grab attention, and is no one like the Stefani G she was five years ago.
My problem is that Nicki is equally (if not more-so) guilty of all three of these grievances as well and most deluded minds are trying hard to either sugar coat it (KoreanDream) or totally deny it (Good Doc).
You Nicki supporters can keep trying, but the "Nicki looks a try-hard mess" comments from those totally un-involved in the argument CONTINUE to flow in. oop.
Speaking of completely laughable responses:
I've admitted numerous times that I like Nicki It's leaning towards more of a used to at this point but that's irrelevant. Just so you know for the future, the "you're so obsessed", "stay posting about them" defense mechanisim only works when the people haven't already previously admitted to liking the artist and don't have their albums. Hopefully your attempt will be much less embarrassing next time.
Still working on that relevant to the topic at hand response or rebuttal though, I see.
Do you think i care if you like Nicki or not. Clearly you don't anymore. What "fan" comes into a thread to talk **** about an artist & her music they like? As far as her music quality "decreasing" i would think that's up to the critics. Just because it's not the hood rat preferred music you like doesn't mean it isn't quality music. People said Pink Friday was **** and yet critics loved. Just goes to show how valid peopl'es opinion on ATRL are.... and #Oop look at the time. It's45 minutes now. Yess sis keep writing those essay full of delusion and nothing about nicki.
Since when was TFM Gaga EVER that colorful and bright? Hell, TF Gaga never came that close. And seeing how Nicki's style has gotten MORE colorful and brighter, your statement makes no sense.

...Vin
Gimmick =/= fake
I think Nicki's using parts of her personality, highlighting and exaggerating them, and then using these parts as gimmicks to grab attention, which is essentially what a gimmick is.
I don't think Nicki's drawing the influences from Gaga and Katy that people say she is. She's nowhere near a clone; if anything, she's influenced by art and fashion not from popstars.
I'm so sick of the who's fake, who's real, who's genuine, who's not genuine nonsense.
Sis, we don't know any of our favs personally. Many of us merely choose to believe what we want about our favorite artists and take what is given to us personally.
You're wasting you time trying to find out what real and what's not.
I for a fact know that the "Peronsa Non Gaga" is fake as hell, and she exaggerates her ideas to a point where she wants the world to view it as though it is real and capable.

It's honestly not even worth it anymore. It's like arguing with a underdeveloped 3 year old at this point.
Just continue to post your stupid responses so I can keep laughing at you.
so please expressing themselves is equivalent to fake now... .
so what if they wanna dress in whatever color they want, they grab attention, I think that's what is accomplished when she does things like that.. there are forums like this that comes up and she remains relevant, that and that she's amazing and a lyrical genius!
That is not what meant. Working with David Guetta is becoming a common trendy thing to do for a hit. Most of his songs are not special. They are basic much like the songs Nicki recorded with him. There is nothing special or memorable about WDGA and TMO. The chorus was made with little effort. Also, doing one genre doesn't make you basic while doing multiple makes you the opposite. My point stands that Nicki released three basic pop songs this year with little variation between them.
Those weren't Wayne and Kanye's first, second, nor third album releases. They were established before they experimented. I hardly call Drake's auto-tuned drones singing, but he rarely, if ever, makes pop music or features on pop songs.
I'm not crying for an old Nicki. I'm crying for some consistency and stability, but Nicki doesn't seem to be able to do that considering she's already making drastic changes to her image and music in her first album era.
WDGA isn't like Turn Me On or Super Bass at all. I do admit that TMO and SB have similar elements in the chorus, but they're quite distinct. Besides, Super Bass is her song and raps throughout it and TMO is technically not her song, although she and Ester Dean wrote it together. Besides, does it matter if she's truly established or not? Maybe she wants to see what she likes first and what does best for her. Gaga did it for her 2nd with Born This Way, Beyonce did it for her 3rd with Sasha Fierce, Britney did it when gradually adjusting from the teen pop movement. They're no different.
Besides, she's had songs like Save Me, Super Bass, Your Love, Fly, and Moment 4 Life since November and even before that, clear as day, and just when her pop side receives recognition she's bashed for it. It's been there minus the clothing, and all she's doing is dressing in an eccentric manner for fun.

Which is why don't understand why you are one of the most staunch anti-Onika posters in this thread.
You, being a Gaga fan, should know what it's like to have your favorite artist's image unfairly attacked.
And not for nothing, but you girls are acting as if Nicki just started dressing like this last week, she's been dabbling in different realms of personal style.
I was talking in reference to how some artists use their fashion choices to gain publicity and attention.
But your shade was mildly cute.
I feel as though the fashion choices should not be the highlight in a persons artistry. It can be argued that my faves fashion choices often overpower her artistry. Though I see the interpolation of these fashion choices combined with her musical and visual artistry as an ingenious cultural addition.
