I honestly can't expect good chart performance from this album, except on rock charts.
Every year, rock music gets less and less popular. In fact, the hot 100 barely even HAS rock. I'd say 3 songs at most, and that's pushing it. And by rock I don't mean AC or indie (because people are seriously just labeling anything "rock" nowadays) but real solid rock.
Last time Ev was in the scene, rock was more popular. Now it's not. I think it's quite sad that the fate of music is becoming solely pop and club music (with some country and indie/ac thrown in). Rock is fading out. And way quicker than I'd expected.
Even the rock charts are becoming biased. Almost every number 1 hit is indie or ac rock. You don't see bands like Bush, Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, Evanescence and Alter Bridge getting recognition anymore.
Maybe if Ev releases a ballad as a single, mainstream radio will accept it. But What You Want might be too "hard-core" for them. (though, I think it's their least-heavy single to date...not counting Good Enough and My Immortal, of course.)
I wish this album so much luck that I know it probably won't get. I just think it's sad. The snippets I've heard are really incredible.
(I also refuse to listen to any leaks until the album is released
