Aaliyah's "Aaliyah" album was by no means flopping. The album was already at 700,000 copies sold [b]without[/] a major hit before her death and it had a fresh, ahead of her time sound, so who's to say she wouldn't have kept her R&B roots while fusing it with modern dance pop (i.e. What she already did with "More Than a Woman"). Amazing people like kisuke who don't live nowhere near America (her main market) are trying to say she wasn't big when clearly she was if 10 years after her death we are STILL talking about her and comparing her to the newer girls. Her old songs are STILL in rotation. Her movies have grossed millions worldwide. She wasn't a megastar a la Lady Gaga or Rihanna, but she WAS BIG and getting BIGGER before she was able to reach her maximum potential as an artist.

The thing with Aaliyah is she would have probably been the break out star in a major movie role with her being a singer as well alot of people would be waitng and anticapting an amazing album coming from the chick that just did that movie. At the same time beyonce would be on the scene ,the leader of the DC group, going solo for the first time people would expect her album to slay as well. So then we would see that the media is trying to pin Aaliyah vs Beyonce match which have a been epic imo
