The Bodyguard is pretty much 90% Whitney Houston. Her singles are the only songs that sold the album and she won a ton of awards for it. It is basically hers.

FutureSex/LoveSounds is the second solo studio album by American pop singer Justin Timberlake, released on September 12, 2006 through record labels Jive and Zomba. The album mustered worldwide sales in excess of 9 million, over four million of which have been sold in the United States alone. Critics had divided reactions to the album. The album was not produced until late 2005. Timberlake, who felt burnt out after the success of Justified, found inspiration in making music again and turned to his former collaborator, record producer Timbaland. Timberlake also worked with Timbaland-protégé Danja, alongside record producers Rick Rubin and will.i.am. The album blends pop, R&B, and dance genres, while incorporating sexual innuendos with themes of love, as the title suggests.

I had a general idea of recent album sales, but only the major ones. And even those #s usually varied drastically depending on whether they were posted by fans or haters.
As an example: according to Xtina fans, she's sold over 50M albums. According to Alexz, she's sold 20M at best ( ), so that's why I clarified that I was looking for accurate figures.

Funny! I was just doing some digging over at UKMIX and came across a link to this list. It looks like it COULD be accurate to me (or at least the guy seems to know what he's talking about):
Quote:
Top 15 Best-Selling females of all time
1. Madonna - 190m albums worldwide | 100m singles worldwide
With a 25+ year career at the top, Madge has carved herself a huge piece of Pop history. She is the biggest-selling female artist of all time, with total record sales of over 290m
TOP ALBUM: Immaculate Collection - 28m
TOP COUNTRY: USA - 70m
2. Celine Dion - 173m albums worldwide | 51m singles worldwide
A little girl from Quebec, Canada hit the big time...but it took her 12 years to do so. She didnt make it big until 1993 when the Colour of My Love was released. She is the only female artist in history to have 4 albums sell more than 16million copies apiece. She is also the most succesful music act of the last 20 years, male or female. With 45m singles sold & over 4m DVD's, her total record sales are an unrivalled 220m.
TOP ALBUM: Lets Talk About Love - 31m
TOP COUNTRY: USA - 62m
3. Mariah Carey - 150m albums worldwide | 55m singles worldwide
A record shattering female vocalist who was the most successful Billboard artist of the 90's. With 18 #1's to her name, she is more successful on the Billboard 100 format than any other soloist. A 150m albums estimate is a very generous estimate for Mariah (probably too generous), whereas 50m singles might not be enough!
TOP ALBUM: Music Box - 26m
TOP COUNTRY: USA - 67.5m
4. Barbra Streisand - 135m albums worldwide | 45m singles worldwide
85million of these allbum sales are in the USA, where she is the most successful female singer of all time. She continues her life in retirement, hence a few "quiet" years for her catalogue, but she'll be back with a new album in no time
TOP ALBUM: Guilty - 13m
TOP COUNTRY: USA - 85m
5. Whitney Houston - 135m albums worldwide | 55m singles worldwide
Regarded as one of the all-time greatest female singers, Whitney has built her career on breaking chart records. Despite so few releases, she has amassed worldwide sales in excess of 190m, and her Bodyguard OST release has sold over 40m worldwide, ranking as one of the best-selling albums ever.
TOP ALBUM: The Bodyguard OST - 40m
TOP COUNTRY: USA - 58m

She has nawt sold 50 million, but she's sold more than 20. She's at least somewhere in the 30 million region.

She said off the top of her head so obviously she is not spot on. But only MOTS and GGGB of the sales she named were way off. MOTS is around 1.8 million and GGGB is much closer to 9 million than the 8 she named, but AGLM is actually at 3.3 and Rated R and Loud were just about right in her post.
|
I read somewhere that MOTS had definitely passed 2 million in sales, and a couple of years ago, I read 2.5, so I just stuck with it, but I'ma try to look for that source. And like I said, I wasn't sure about GGGB, but 8 million seemed pretty reasonable. I put Loud at 5 million because MusicCharts (might not be the name of the website but it has Loud at like 5.3-5.4) doesn't seem like a completely credible source, and I rather underestimate her sales than overestimate. But do you know where you found that AGLM number because I've been trying to find an actual source on that album's sales, but the only thing I remember was a few years ago when Wikipedia had it down as 3.5 million
