Interestingly, what is it with Australia, in that it seems to be the first country to pick up the next single from an album? I remember Alejandro was charting there in the middle of Telephone's US run.
Alejandro was used in a commercial for the finale of a popular show. I have no idea what's going on with You & I though I've already heard it on the radio more times than TEOG.
To be fair, though, Y&I doesn't really have much of a reason to be charting high... It isn't being played much on radio, it hasn't been performed in ages and it doesn't have a video yet.

Madonna used to stick to her retro 80s sound and then did some urban tracks. Then she went to electronic music with Ray of Light and the following albums.
