It's not like 175k after a second week is anything less than good, especially since that's the amount for a ton of 2010-2011 debut weeks. Besides, Harry Potter's sales were front-loaded as well and dropped an epic amount, and it's still made a ton. I think you're looking too into this. Born This Way was hyped up and of course was gonna see a ton of its sales in the beginning.
The fact of the matter is, Born This Way was going to hit #1 either way. Gaga and her team had nothing to do with Amazon's personal discounts because it helped her sales and Amazon still gave them a ton of money, the same amount per copy whether or not it was a day that they offered it for 99 cents. Katy not only made a less-than-fantastic remix, but is offering it for 69 cents to
break a record. It's screaming desperate, and as much as I was ACHING for it to get #1, even after hearing the crappy remix, I do not want it to anymore now that I know that they're willing to stoop to such levels just to make sure it hits.
