i don't mean to sound in denial but I don't think it's because of that, otherwise they would do it right after the nominations were announced and people still cared about them. there's really been a lot of videos with a "message" this year

They added a random category two weeks after the nominations were announced. Of course it's because of that. MTV needs to stop with their mess.

Whatever happened to recognizing innovative and groundbreaking videos??? The VMAs were the only award show I could think of that did this, which made looking at the nominations a pleasure since it exposed me to incredible videos I'd never seen before (like Dan Black's "Symphonies" last year).

It better return for 2012 is all I have to say,,,
