SOUTH BRUNSWICK— Superstar singer and actress Beyoncé brought her talents to the township Tuesday, shooting a music video in the Oakdale Village Mobile Home Park.
Word of the filming shot through the community Tuesday morning as crews set up along a narrow street in the middle and rear of the mobile home community on Route 1.
Park Manager Dina Nicholls said she was excited to have the unamed production company and the superstar rent space in the park to shoot the video.
Despite some onlookers, security around the shoot was tight with production company representatives telling those not connected with the shoot to refrain from taking photos or videos.
Identified members of the press were asked to leave the park by Ms. Nicholls within minutes of their arrival because it was private property.
The production company hired a township police officer for the day to maintain order in the area, according to township spokesman Ron Schmalz.
A group of teens from the South Brunswick YMCA were also on hand briefly to get a quick glimpse of the artist as she made her way back to her RV parked along a rear street of the park.
”I love you Beyoncé,” one of the young ladies screamed as the artist passed by, flanked by her entourage, one carrying an umbrella to shade her, and including a videographer and photographer provided by the production company.
The group left the park on a bus shortly after the star, 29, disappeared into her RV for a break between shots.
Beyoncé has recorded four solo albums, with the most recent one, “4,” achieving platinum status for selling over 1 million copies. She has also appeared in the movies “Dreamgirls,” “Austin Powers in Goldmember,” and the remake of “A Star is Born,” to be released in 2012.
Through all the activity of equipment setups, staging and shots, resident Helga Boseman, 74, stood outside her purple mobile home with her small dog Schatzie taking in all the action.
”We never had anything like this,” Ms. Boseman said. “It is really exciting.”
During the shoot, Ms. Boseman allowed the extras filming the video to use the bathroom inside her home.
Ms. Boseman, who has lived in the park for 20 years, said production personnel came to the park last week to scout the location and although she knew they would be back, she was amazed by the amount of equipment and traffic the shoot generated.
The many extras milling around between shots in the heat of the early afternoon sun were easily identifiable by their stylish dress and abundance of makeup.
One female model wore a short cocktail dress, her long hair dyed the same light-blue hue.
Production company representatives said they didn’t want any photos, videos or other recordings of the shoot to get out before the video is made public.
