Raining Men doesn't have single cover, music video, Rihanna never said it is a single, her record label didn't say it is a single, it had no promo, no remixes, nothing. They just sent it to the urban radio. Some people consider it being single because it was on the radio (many Rihanna haters belong to this group because they want to show how it flopped). Some fans consider it as promo single - promo for urban audience. Some fans don't consider it as a single because of no Rihanna or label confirmation (I belong to this group) and some fans just don't want to consider it as single because it never charted = flopped...

Sweetie, it's not even worth to explain to some souls on ATRL. I mean, 6th , 7th whatever single.....the fact is Rihanna is big and slaying in all departments: touring (22.5M from 24 shows), single (20M+ WW points), album (5m+), etc. And we get more music on top of this? The slaying will continue and the rest will deal.

So excited to see Cheers coming up the radio and itunes chart. a perfect platform for the re-release single.

Raining Men wasn't officially a single. It was sent to Urban radio but got completely overshadowed by What's My Name?, which I think was the reason why they didn't pursue it.

Those who believe that Raining Men isn't a single, just have to read everything on the talk page of this article.
There's a lot more arguments for and against.

If a song is released independently of its parent album, regardless of whether it has a single cover or music video, it is nearly always a single. Performing songs doesn't make them singles. Lots of singles are released without TV performances. If "Raining Me" is not a single, what is it? It was sent to radio twice (at the expense of the label...)

Where does it say singles need cover-art and music videos? Especially when individual songs from an album can chart as soon as an album's released, thus iTunes removes many of the individual single listings. After "Raining Men" was released, has Rihanna said anywhere that "S&M" is the third single? No! She said "S&M" would be the third single, before "Raining Men" was sent to radio... She obviously wasn't aware of the label's plans.

A US radio add date means it had an official single release.

and WMN was still ******** on urban in december, which explains why it never really picked up there
