It's an amazing thing,
I love EVERY track on both albums. EVERY.
Even the little left-field ones like Lose Control and Your Star... in fact, I think those are stand-out tracks on their discography; i've seen people say those tracks are forgettable. Silly!
I think Torniquet & Imaginary definitely are my all time favorites tho. The transition between those songs...
it's something out of this world.

Amy Lee: "Today, everyone is afraid of losing money"
07/22/2011
Amy Lee, lead singer of cult band, Evanescence, in an exclusive interview about the big comeback, epic music and politics uninteresting.
More than 20 million albums sold, Grammy honor as well as gold and platinum status in 35 countries: Evanescence is one of the greats in the music business. The Great Breakthrough (hit album "Fallen"), however, already eight years ago. Now the band takes with her characteristic style between nu metal, goth and alternative rock a new approach: "Evanescence," the simple title of the third studio album, released on 10th October; in August comes the first single "What Do You Want" on the market.
relevance could only Austrian media not only pre-hearing part of the new album (more rock, harder, but still epic sounds of the new Evanescence sound), but also asked for detailed Amy Lee exclusive interview. The charismatic lead singer chatted cheerfully about the new album, music in general and how the music industry can save in front of collapse. Only Amy Lee talks about politics not so happy ...
Relevant: Hi Amy. How are you?
Amy Lee: Very well, thank you. And yourself?
Well, thank you. You just had lunch, right?
(Laughs) Right. I had a chicken Caesar salad, very tasty.
A big relief!
R:Let's talk about music. Your last album, "The Open Door", is already back five years. How does it feel to make a comeback after so long?
AL:Great, it is the right time for us. I missed the fans, most of all I wanted her to finally hear our new songs. The band and I have worked for several years on our new album - it's a great relief to finally be able to share this work with the world.
R id you not just your fans but also all the journalists and the media missed?
AL: Now you've got me! (Laughs) to give interviews is not my favorite pastime, but it belongs to them. But: We have filmed the video yesterday for the new single. We shot at various locations with various Outf****. I love it as an artist to create an atmosphere where there was a lot of fun.
No comeback for the comeback willing!
R:Why is right now the timing perfect for a comeback?
AL:I am thoroughly perfectionist when it comes to music, art. I publish any material that is not me until I'm 100 percent sure that it is better than anything I've ever done. I'm not willing just to comeback the comeback. I must take my music and the fans a great, epic journey for a few minutes and kidnap in a different world. As long as they do not create, I'm not ready to publish, songs.
R: Have you worked so long on the new album?
AL: It just takes some time before the sound, the songs are perfect. The finishing touches on the album is missing still, but I am very satisfied with the outcome.
Music should make me happy!
R:Those songs I've heard about your new album already are very different from that Evanescence sound, we know ...
AL:That's right. I need to make music not only as artist but also as a person to satisfy and make happy. We make the kind of sound we would hear in private. We have songs on your iPod, you may want to give, but still a little bit would change. It is nevertheless true that we have as a band, the ability for us to create the perfect sound. When 1 was 15 years old and we have written "My Immortal" I was inspired by other things than today. This is normal life and therefore the music is evolving. Nevertheless, the heart, the emotions, the roots of Evanescence are on the new album is still available.
R: Is it true that you hate to admit, during the recordings to have had fun on the new album?
AL: We actually had a lot of fun. But: When I say "fun" talking about, I mean a big epic sound, such as piano solos combined with heavy guitar riffs. So no "Tralala" fun! (Laughs) The difference from the earlier albums is also that I wrote the first time with the band together and composed, what for me was a big change. It was not always easy, we had different ideas were moving in different directions. In this way, however, we also managed to capture the live sound of the band. Evanescence is more powerful, perhaps become even harder. We are just say I'm just me!
Take risks and be yourself!
R:Speaking of "I-ness": The commercial music market is currently heavily influenced by Lady Gaga. Do you feel sometimes like an alien there?
AL:The band and I talk a lot about this subject. Nowadays it has become difficult to find a really good song on the radio. A song must not only trigger emotions in me, I want to feel the emotions of the artist himself, wants to know exactly how it came to this song.
R:Party songs are nothing to you?
AL:There is nothing against a really good song, can dance to it. This is fun, I've even those guilty pleasures! My music may well be dramatic and passionate, but personally I'm not a drama queen. Actually I am a very humorous and sociable person! (Laughs) The music is to me but it is possible to connect to the rest of the world - and that goes best with great emotions!
R:It is therefore still exists a desire for great musical feelings in people?
AL:I know that it is so. It is important to be brave when it comes to music. Today, everyone has only fear - fear of a flop, afraid to lose money. You have to take risks and dare to be different and to sound than the rest is exactly what is Evanescence, just that makes us special.
Music more value!
R:Where do you see the future of the music industry?
AL:Oh man, a tough question! (Laughs) This is obviously a subject that one employs as an artist. Will it be soon, in the truest sense of the word can no longer afford to make music? If the whole music market soon collapse into itself? The world is changing rapidly, and the music industry has not found a way to keep up there.
R id you have a solution?
AL:I look positively into the future. I think you have to expand his musical thinking and not as something unique, Detached, but as something connected with the world. If the music industry wants to survive, it needs to appreciate music more, it may no longer just turn everything around the shop and the money.
R: Does not feel as if you were a fan of the music industry ...
AL: No, I'm not! I hate it! Each has only money in mind. I would hope everything would revolve around music and art in itself. Keep it about the music, not the business!
Politics does not affect us!
R:Change of subject: your first albums appeared as "traps" and "The AL:Open Door", the world was a completely different. Facebook's did not exist, George W. Bush was President of the United States, Osama bin Laden was still alive. To what extent such events affect your music?
AL: Actually, only a very limited extent. When I write songs, it's about how it is in me, not looking in the world. We do not write songs about the economic situation in the world.
Was there in recent months, yet events that you moved?
When the tsunami and the earthquake shook Japan earlier this year, we were very shocked and in a way that has influenced me when writing the songs. With such tragic events, environmental forces at work that are beyond our control. Everything else is suddenly unimportant, it will affect his mortality, in short, you feel human. And it connects to another with the victims something you can not put into words. Such topics inspire me.
Want to know politics?
As an adult you informed, of course, but honestly: Politics does not interest me. I look better than the cartoons on news! (Laughs)
Austrian fans have what it takes
R: Last question- What comes first when you think of Austria?
AL :Mozart. I love classical music. I know you have a great culture. And we've always had a great fan base in Austria and Germany. I think, have made it easy on it and understand what is important in music! (Laughs)

Amy Lee presents Evanescence’s new CD
With a colourful dress, her characteristic black long hair and her sweet and charming personality, Amy Lee is in México to talk about their upcoming record, coming out in October. “What I have enjoyed the most about this CD, is the creating process. It was like when you are making a gift and you put stuff on it and you get excited when you think that when the fans open it, they’ll love it”. The band took three years outside the stages, but the composing process started two years ago. “Made Of Stone, it’s a song in this record that I composed two years ago, and it’s really cool to see how it has evolved in sound and lyrics until arriving to this disc. It sounds so cool” The first single is named “What You Want” and it’s a song full of energy and very inspiring to get what you want, “It’s like a smack, it’s a scream that makes you fight for your dreams”, says Amy Lee. Evanescence’s comeback it’s one of the most expected.
