According to this article, the single is going to come out in August 9th (probably just for the radio)...
I hope that they'll perform at the VMAs and hopefully the single will become available for download the following week. SMASH
If not, then they better do a lot of promos

& release the single as early as possible instead of waiting 2 weeks before the album to release it........

Amy Lee will make an “express” visit to México City
The five years of radiophonic and discographic absence of Evanescence will conclude in the next days because of the release of the single “What You Want” and the express visit of Amy Lee to México.
A source from EMI Music México confirmed that Friday 22th the singer of “Going Under” will do a marathonic session of interviews to start promoting the album Evanescence, which will be release on October 11th.
“There will be no press conference, neither a showcase nor a signing session, because the CD is not out yet.
She’s coming a whole day to work and she hasn’t objected anything.
When the CD goes out we’ll plan something for them to come back”, the informant said.
“What You Want” will make it to radio stations on August 9th and it will be the presentation of their new material, which was coproduced by Nick Raskulinecz, who has worked with Foo Fighters and Alice in Chains.
“Besides, the CD represents the return of guitarist Troy McLawhorn, who was with them previously at live shows.”
Lee, the group leader who got the Grammy for Best New Artist in 2004, has the best intentions to reconnect with her public.
“She’s coming with the best disposition to work with the company to make the best work of promotion.
There were no demands for her trip, we are only aware of the fact that she eats very healthy, so we were asked for vegetables, fruits and juices for her stay, but whatever she asks for, it will be in the moment” pointed out her future host.
The group, which caused sensation with their goth-pop rock style, showed in songs like “My Immortal” and “Everybody’s Fool”, edited their debut, Fallen, in 2003, and The Open Door three years later, even though for the time they had gained international fame, one of its founders, Ben Moody, had already left the band for creative differences with Lee.
