As for Yoü and I as a single, I just think it's BORING. She's performed it for over a year, I want something new. Something exciting. It's not like she's coming up with different arrangements for the song... I'm already tired of the song and now she's not going to give us something else until like, Christmas? The ****!?
I don't get why she keeps it so secret if the next single is U&I ... U&I is not that unexpected / special.
Most of us already think that since the song get so high on itunes (#9) upon release, label sure will consider it as a single choice.

I think when she talks of a surprise she means to the general public / fans and the media.
They won't expect a pop phenomenon to release such a song after 3 years of dance/club songs.
I think it'll actually do really well. I hate the production of it though. I want her to release an acoustic/live version
