As one of the most talented and successful singer of the last decade, her solid career has become her into one of the most relevant latinamerican personalities of all times, also know for her altruism. Shes a referent of the latinamerican music, women and people, always putting her latin signature in everyone of her works.
Career: At the age of 4 she wrote her first poem “La Rosa De Cristal” (The Cristal Rose), eventually her poems became songs and when she was 8 years old, she composed her first song “Tus Gafas Oscuras” (Your Sunglasses), she wrote the song about her father’s sunglasses, when she was 10 she start to make some performance in Barranquilla, like this she met a producer form Sony, and he signed a contract for 3 albums.
In 1991 he lunched her first album called “Magia” this album only sold 1000 copies, later in 1993 she appeared in the famous festival “Viña del Mar” in Chile, she won the 3rd place, her second album titled “Peligro” was a local hit, but the album didn’t performed well in sells. She also appeared in a Colombian soap opera.
In 1995 her music label was thinking in launch an album featuring Colombian artist’s hits, including one of Shakira’s songs from her first two albums, but she denies the offer, proposing to record a brand new song, this song was “¿Donde Estás Corazón?” that became a radial hit in Colombia, like this she record a new album titled “Pies Descalzos” that was launched in 1996, the first single from her third album was “Estoy Aquí followed by the song that gave name to the record “Pies Descalzos”, this was her first international album, and launched her to the Latinamerican stardom selling over 5 million copies, and also having a Re-edition with version of her more important song in portuguese. In 1997 she started to record a new album, the album was record in Canada and was relased in late 1998, “¿Donde Están Los Ladrones?” has sold 10 millions of copies, this album marks her entrance to the European market.
Due to the success of her fourth album, in 1999 she was able to have her own MTV Unplugged, being the first Latin-American female artist to have one, also being the first latin Unplugged that was showed in MTV USA, the album was released in 2000 and sold over 5 million copies. Also in this year she won a MTV Music award, for the song “Ojos Así”, and she had her very first tour calle “Tour Anfibio” touring around all America
Shakira started the new millennium as the most important new latinamerican artist, in 2001 she launched her first bilingual album “Laundry Service/Servicio de Lavandería” the album was criticized for Shakira’s English diccion and she created polemic about her new look, appearing like a hot blond girl, nevertheless the album sold over 20 million copies around the world, the first single from this album “Whenever, Wherever/Suerte” reached nuber #6 in the Bilboard Hot 100, in Switzerland the song stayed in the spot number #1 for 17 weeks. This year Shakira won her first Grammy Award.
In 2002 Shakira started her second tour “Tour of the Mongoose/El Tour de la Mangosta”, shakira performed in 61 dates all around America and Europe.
After a year and a half, Shakira started to works in a new musical project, this time she launched 2 album, one in Spanish and the other one in English, in june 2005, “Fijación Oral Vol. 1” was launched, the first single of this album featured Alejandro Sanz, “La Tortura” was a big hit and stayed 25 weeks in the number #1 spot in the Billboard Latin Tracks chart, this song have the title of being the first song performed in Spanish in the MTV Video Music Awards. Late in 2005 she launched “Oral Fixation Vol. 2” the English counterpart of her project debuting in the number #5 at Billboard Hot 200 Album chart, “Don’t Bother” was released as first single, but “Hips Don’t Lie” released early 2006 and featuring Wycleaf Jean marked a major hit on Shakira’s career, the song became a latin anthem, also was the most downloaded song in 2006, Shakira performed a remix by Red One of this song in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
In 2006’s summer she start touring again, this time the tour was called “Oral Fixation World Tour” having 125 venues, visiting 4 continents, the tour income was over $100 million dollars, making it her more expensive and largest tour to date. In 2007, she appeared with 3 songs in the soundtrack of the movie “Love In Cholera Times” and appeared as featured artist in Beyoncé’s song “Beautiful Liar”.
After 3 years of absence in the musical scene, in 2009 she released a new album “She Wolf/Loba” the album was more oriented to the tracks in English, having just three Spanish songs, the album had sold 379,000 copies in the USA. In 2010 Shakira was the responsible for the 2010 FIFA World Cup helded in South Africa theme, this song was “Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)” this song became the second most successful song of Shakira, and was included later in her following album.
“Sale El Sol” her 7th studio album, was released late 2010, the album is a mixture of all her styles, the first single was “Loca” followed by “Sale El Sol” and “Rabiosa” the album is juxtaposition of “She Wolf” have more song in Spanish, in this album Shakira works with El Cata, and Rene Pérez from Calle 13. The album have a blend of Latin sound songs and soft rock songs and a cover of the XX’s song “Islands”, the album has sold over 2 million copies worldwide.

Shakira haven’t married yet, she had a long relationship with her manager Antonio de la Rua, but they broke up in 2011 after 11 years of being together, actually she have an amorous relationship with the Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué.
She have 2 foundation ALAS and Pies Descalzos, both dedicated to help kids in extreme poorness, by providing them education and a healthy environment, she also opened a school in her native city, her altruistic spirit born in her childhood, when her family fell in bankruptcy, she felt like she was in the end of the world, so then her father took her to see orphan children, after that she promised to herself that she will help the poor kids.

Shakira is one of my favorite artist just coz’ although being a superstar, she’s a really human person, she’s altruist, and she always gave proud and honor to the Latinamerican culture, she has changed lives with her music, and make all the latin people dream about reaching our dreams, as continent, as countries, as culture and as persons.
I had the pleasure to meet Miss Shakira last April, when I went to one of her concerts in “The Pop Festival”, I also touched her meanwhile she makes her entrance to the stage singing in the middle of her fans, I saw her and she saw us, she smiled us, I was really amazed, I could realize she’s a huge star but still is a normal girl with hopes and dreams like all the latinamericans like me are.
Shakira has appeared in Forbes, she knows how to make money and uses it for good, she has never been out of business, and have a lot of creativity on her albums and her other projects, she is so entrepreneur, she has a lot of business like her foundations and her perfumes and all her other media and related stuffs.
