It's disgusting that there is even a 2:1 ratio.

TBH, there should be no way that Teenage Dream should have gotten that many votes. People vote for TD because they have NOT heard Thriller...in full. That's the only explanation

What's so wrong with it though? Most people born in late 90s/early 00s won't get to fully appreciate a 1982 album, you never hear the songs on the radio now, you don't get to follow the singles progress, different musical style than what you grew up with, or even watch the music videos unless you search them on youtube yourself.
Despite the commercial and critical success of Thriller, it's not that surprising that younger generations will prefer a more contemporary album over it.

You're saying that the dozens of delusional people who voted for Teenage Dream have never heard songs like Thriller, Billie Jean, Beat It, or Wanna Be Startin Somethin and have never seen some of the greatest videos of all time (Thriller, Beat It)? Not only have they been cornerstones of pop culture for decades, they are still getting spins on the radio, and while not being played as much nowadays as Katy's overplayed (and vastly overrated) singles, there are few people in the world who have not heard Thriller. The "best selling album of all time" does not even begin to describe the cultural impact Thriller has had and continues to have.

Are you serious? Michael has some of the biggest recurrent hits of all-time. He is HUGE on recurrent airplay. "Thriller" gets shown nearly every Halloween and "Billie Jean," "Beat It" and "Wanna Be Startin Something" get huge airplay today. So, if today's audiences are not familiar with Thriller as a whole, then they SHOULD be familiar with some of the hit songs from that album. And it's really no excuse given that people spend all day long on this POP forum and argue back and forth about pop stats and such by their favorite diva but do not know much about the most popular album of all-time. Something IS wrong if people on this forum are not at least familiar with the music. Now if they don't appreciate it, then that's something totally different.

Michael Jackson is probably the most popular recurrent "legacy" artist besides the Beatles. Listen to Z100 for a couple hours and I guarantee you'll hear The Way You Make Me Feel played at least once.
In any case, not all young people live and die by top 40 pop radio. I'd hazard to say that there are many younger people who would sooner recognize Thriller and Billie Jean over Katy's string of forgettable hits. Hell, my sister heard LFN on the radio a few weeks ago and said "Miley's new song is cute."
As for the poll question, it's not even worth considering.
