To be fair, no other male pop singer will ever have the success, critical acclaim, and overall legacy Michael Jackson has brought to music as a male singer. However, that doesn't mean no other male pop singer can't or won't achieve that title of being a legend in the near future. Michael can't and won't be replaced, that's set and stone, same goes for Madonna.

Of course. But there could be artists that reach such astronomical success and impact that they are this generation's MJ's and Madonna's in retrospect.

You don't have to meet Michael's success or impact to be a legend or an icon. That's absurd. There are many "legends" who have not made as big of an impact as Mike, but they have made their own mark through their music, influence, industry and critical respect, etc.

That is his genre, and that's what will make him an R&B legend (there are plenty of those), but Confessions, despite its enormous success, is not heavily cited outside of the R&B/Urban genre that often. Usher doesn't have "that" song either.

Confessions is his album & Yeah! is his song. They didn't just coast by.

I can't believe someone compared him to ...
... some of you girls.

And Beyonce is already getting these special honorary awards. Just saying.

my uncle works in a record label. Lifetime achievement awards ARE BOUGHT BY LABELS. At this point of his carreer Usher doesn't NEED those type of awards. He already had a lot of grammy including 7 Grammy.
And trust me Usher could care less about some premade critics lists. He could have bought a place but he doesn't even care. He is more worried about hot 100 and grammy..

Yes, it's his song and his album. No one denied that, so I'm not sure what point you are trying to make or are you just trying to dismiss my point because you're an Usher fan?

So, the fact that Usher has been in the game since 1994 and is still relevant is soley based off of poopulairty?

Beyoncé is Beyoncé. She had her first legend award at the age of thirteen. Usher still gets his Grammys in so his music is respected.

Okay. I'm just stating my opinion on this. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this.

I wasn't speaking literally, Cap10. I'm saying those are his "one" song & "one" album. I'm not dismissing your point, I'm not claimg "he's a LEGEND!!!111 ZOMG!" but to say he doesn't have a defining album or song, then who does?

I never said he didn't have a defining album or song. Those things defined his career, and I never denied he was a legend or could be one. I just do not think either that album or song is held in such high regards by many.
