I agree with you. Madonna =
But at least this indicates she's on the right track, huh?

Rolling Stone has proven its credibility time and time again and so it's hilarious to see people saying they're not a credible source simply because they don't like what they're saying.
Once again, 2009-2011. Look up the #s for yourself.

Overnight (mid-day?) Madonna stans coming out, even though nobody is claiming that Gaga has surpassed or even touches Madonna.
Reminds me of the good old days of when BTW the song was first released.

This is not very relevant for me Brit and Xtina were mentioned in the past years Queens of Pop too so i don't care about this
Madonna=The real Queen of Pop

My issue with it is the inaccurate data, other than that, I love this list.

About the YouTube views (Gaga having less than 1 billion), could it be because this list is specific to the US? I mean, could they track the views from a specific country? Not sure, but if they can then it makes sense. Perhaps those views are just from the US..

People need to start reading..... This list is based only on 2009-2011 sales only! Which is why Madonna is not mentioned. Everyone knows she can't be replaced EVER!

I'm not discrediting the list at all. It's actually rather accurate. It's just nonsensical to put someone on a larger pedestal than what they actually are.

Okay, well let's go into more detail.
Aside from crushing the album sales of the others, she's sold over 34 million singles, is in the top 10 list of social media presences, has ~500 million YouTube views, is one of the most searched people in the world on Google and is the third most searched person in the United States behind only Bieber and Gaga.
Everyone in the United States knows her whether they like her or not, and just because she's not a flamboyant presence in the media doesn't mean that she's not constantly in the headlines.

To be Queen of Pop, you need to have a little more universal appeal (international success among some things). Taylor is huge in the US and has moderate success in selective countries. Katy Perry has sold over 18 million singles alone in just the US from "Teenage Dream." Imagine all of her singles tallied from her first album and second album with all the singles and albums moved worldwide combined. Taylor comes short in comparison.
As for searches go, Katy Perry was in the Top 10 most searched for Females in the world with Taylor right on the outside of the Top 10. I am not denying Taylor deserves to be mentioned, but I think she's placed too high personally.

I think it's pretty simple actually...
They made a research about some numbers and calculated an average number based on all the others. The lady with the bigger numbers, consequently, would get the first place.
They decided to call that lady the current "Queen of Pop". If you have another definition of Queen of Pop, OK, this is theirs.
The fact is that Gaga got the highest numbers - and so they called her The Queen of Pop. Again, it's their definition.

Foxay stanning for Queen Katy
Yeah, worldwide success should not just be an afterthought. Taylor is local, where Gaga, Katy, and Rihanna smash across the globe. Besides, look at Taylor's presence on pop radio; it's nothing compared to girls I just mentioned, which is pretty important if you want to be queen of pop
