This was just for ATRL. I don't like her much in real life. I only like a fraction of LOVE?

How were the new Navy recruits?

Welcome back! Did stanning for J.Lo give you a new appreciation of her, or made you like her more?
And that Good_Doc_Gon... guy, (I forgot his name) was the best new Navy recruit. Hands down.
And the worst... well lets just say we would have a better member in "Disturbia". Whoever thought that giving Kisuke RihannaNavy didn't think that through.

Not really
That member (GoodDocGon...) confused me because his username made it seem like her was a fan of Rihanna anyway. Didn't Kisuke switch to Madonna?

Oh, really? Would you consider doing the stanswap again though?
Yeah, I thought he was already part of the Navy, too! But apparently he isn't, haha. Katy or Ke$ha comes to mind for the person he stans for... not sure which one...
That's my point, someone had a little tantrum and quit. Hahaha.

It was obvious from the start that both MD & CKB would underperform, but no, I'm just a hater right?
CKB should have never happened. Cheers should have been released right after S&M, and the video for MD should have been released in mid-July. It'll flop, but MD is just the kind of song that needs to happen. MD video turned out to be the most important of her career yet.
Then LoudR first single in September.

I'll do it when it comes up again.
He should stay with the Navy.
Of course, he was good with Madonna though.

I mean, CKB and MD are certified flops now, and if radios don't pick up CKB soon neither of them are going to chart very well. And we know that Fly is going to be a single...so what single should be released in the meantime?
|
Dude stop saying that ****.
Man Down is doing well on urban and will be hitting the top 10 on RB charts as it is currently #13.

I think that the MD video was a step in the right direction for videos this era. The first two videos were lackluster compared to the amazing videography of the Rated R era. S&M stepped it up, but Man Down compensated for the lack of artistic progression of CKB.

Let's be realistic. She is coming off of three number one hits on the Hot 100, and now she made the decision to release two different singles at the same time (NEVER a good idea) and now they're under-performing. There are no two ways about it.

Man Down is still getting positive updates on radio, & it has 30 million AI. That's decent for an urban-only single. I think, with time, it could still moderately well.
I don't know about CKB anymore. I'm losing my patience.

Like RudeBoy, I also wanted Cheers (Drink to That) for the summer. I was worried when CKB was announced as the summer single, but I have stuck with it since it got released & looked at the positive. If it had/will take off, it would/will be an important single for her. But, I'm thinking my want for Cheers as 4th single was justified now.
I was actually anti-Man Down as a single at all until I saw it was doing good on AI.

Songs arent only about radio.....
Look at 'The Time' by the BEP.... it peaked at 30M AI... yet it has sold +3M
also. I wanna add that CKB is a Top20 hit in ALL of the english markets BUT the US.... and this week is entering the Top10 in 2 new countries....
The only truth is that she should perform the song somewhere. OR move on Man Down on Pop.
but not always every song can 'click' on radios. And this had to happen.
Even when RS101 got to be Top30 on iTunes it never got more than 1M AI.... And yet it managed to sell +400K.
I think that if CKB can go gold (or even platinum) and the same with Man Down I think I could consider both of them moderate hits.
And most important of all... if they keep on selling the album... who am I to complain?

She promoted CKB song way too early for it to be that helpful (American Idol for example).

This is the best way to look at the situation. CKB should be able to at least get some type of certification.

I know its a hard situation... and we are used to see all of Rihanna's singles do amazingly well.
But the truth is that 3 #1s from the same album is not the usual. And most of the people interested in Rihanna already have the album.
Also it is true, that... we've been complaining since day 1 about how 'bad' CKB and MD are doing... but they have been more than a month steadily going up one on iTunes and the other on radio...
If they both can manage a Top40 peak and go Gold.... I'd be MORE THAN HAPPY!
That I was expecting more? yes.
but as long as the album can sell (before the re-release) 5M worldwide, 1.5M in the US, 1.5M in the UK, 3xPlatinum in Canada, 2xPlatinum in France and 8xPlatinum in Ireland I'll be happy.... and its looking more than likely to do so.
