I rarely post here and been a member for a while now! I have to get this out. I've been going hard since 98 aint **** changed but the years. Bitch still banging out EPIC music, still dazzling crowds, causing frenzies, occasionally a few head shaves, umbrella attacks but eh my bitch gets it done regardless. I'm here for life or until death bottom line is I will DIE a Britney stan. Sure people may grill her but in my world it gets no higher than Britney Spears because when you've followed someone since you were a child it gets stronger and I love her!

Let's be honest, WE as fans hyped ourselves up. We expected this amazing performance and the media did their job and hyped us up.
This was Britney's first foray into a live award show performance/appearance in four years. It's baby steps. She did enough to get tongues wagging, she got some promo and the talk will be how amazing she looked and what a difference it was from four years ago.
I'm looking at this from both angles, as a fan who let myself give into the hype, but also as a fan who understand why things happened the way it did.
I'm sick and tired of people who criticize (not bash) being called bad fans or bad stans. Being a true fan, you accept the good along with the bad. You accept the high points as well as the disappointments, but that doesn't mean we're not allowed to vent or be upset when things don't go as we hoped. As I've said before, I supported Britney through the highest of highs and lowest of lows, that **** won't change. HOWEVER I can be upset with the way she's managed, promoed and the way it SEEMS like not a single **** is given to put an effort into performances or appearances. Our excuses, because let's be honest -- it's what they are, only go so far.
Clearly Britney has been "back" for a while now. Yes it's baby steps but at some point she's gonna HAVE to break it down like she did in the old days.
Again, we psyched ourselves up expecting more than what we got. The S&M performance was great. It's got everyone buzzing. She looked amazing last night. She was lucid, energetic and she had fun. She looked like she was happy to be there. Those are all positives. I hope she does another show and actually performs. I certainly won't get my hopes up anymore or allow myself to feed into the hype, but I'll support it if it happens. If she does appear and KILL IT then I'll be back to being hyped again.
My feelings don't make me a bad fan or stan, it makes me a realistic one.

I do care. TV is used to sell -- sell albums, movies, tours, etc. If your TV performances don't come off well, a lot of times that translates negatively. Based off the reactions that came from the MTV documentary (w/ performance), as well as the GMA and Jimm.y Kimmel, there were fans who felt she didn't do enough, that she wasn't at the top of her game. That turned THOSE fans off, and they probably didn't buy tickets or the CD. Now I can't prove that, but based on the comments from some of those people, I could see it happening.
If Britney had come on TV and performed circa 2001 would you be saying would you care? Of course not, you'd be all "OMG SHE WAS AMAZING. THAT BITCH KILLED IT." Instead you are reducing them to "little TV performances."
Promo is to sell. Had MTV Awards 2007 gone off differently Blackout would have done better. That's a truth. The perception was she lost it, she didn't care, she was spiraling out of control. Her fans supported her, but the general public, those whose interest is based off radio and "little tv appearances" didn't support.

I completely agree with you. The way she's being 'managed' if you can call it that is ridiculous. This era hasn't been handled correctly at all. It had such promise. The album is wonderful, fun, energizing and any other term you want to put out there. She's looking wonderful but the effort is just not there anymore.
I'm all for people having opinions and speaking their minds. Hell if you knew me in the 'real world' you'd know just that. I don't like things sugarcoated but I also believe there is a way to say things and not be cruel. Am I saying this about anyone in particular? No, I'm not.
This is just another form of cyber bullying. She doesn't read every comment but I'm sure it hurts just the same. 'She's dead, she's a robot, the meds have killed her'. I know for a FACT that if these things had been said to any person in the 'real world' they'd be hurt and go on the defensive. I'm not saying don't have an opinion, I'm just saying some people are too harsh.
I too have been there through the highs and the lows. In fact I'm seeing Brit in Vegas and in Phoenix. So, again just my opinion.
FYI... I don't think you're a bad stan at all. *hugs*

of course i would say she did amazing but just because she did okay doesnt mean that i am going to have a full meltdown like everyone else around here. Honestly this might be britney's last or close to last era. i know it wont be perfect but im not going to spend the last few moments worrying about promo or cd or ticket sales. im just going to enjoy her and her tour!
but i DO respect your opinion sis.

I can't be lurking, lurking anymore. Never felt like, felt like this before...
So here are my thoughts after reading a lot of negativity on my twitter timeline and posts here on ATRL:
I think it's time for people to accept that Britney Spears will no longer be as good of a performer as she was. She used to rehearse a LOT way back, hence her epic performances. Now, everything she does is calculated - from the days of rehearsals to her hours of sleep. But I think it's all for the best. The enthusiasm is there. I can see it in her eyes. There's just something wrong with her - whether it's her knee injury or mental issues (we really don't know) that keeps her from being the BRITNEY SPEARS that she was and used to love. If only it weren't because of all these issues that she's had for a while now, she'd still be able to perform flawlessly. Apparently, there's nothing we can do about them but to accept that they're part of her life now and move on. She's like a person dying of cancer but still fighting it anyway. (Okay that was a bad analogy but that's the best that I could think of) We should all be happy that she's got a team who is more concerned about her health and family more than anything else. Now, she's got more time with her family, and she gets plenty of sleep WITHOUT GIVING UP HER CAREER. C'mon people, shouldn't we at least give her credit for still TRYING? After all, she's the one who's said that "music is therapy." Circus+Femme Fatale gave her a new breathe of life. She may not deliver those kind of killer performances anymore, but the BRITNEY we always love is there and is not going anywhere.
Oh no...I'm being so melodramatic. I just love the Queen.
On a positive note, the Queen is looking really great at the Billboard Music Awards.

Do we think Till The World Ends will go up on the Hot 100, or stay the same for this week? I'm sure it will be in the Top 10 again!!

How can you love an artist as a child and then just toss them aside like a used toy? *cries* Britney is a special woman and it hurts to see people giving up on her. I'm literally crying right now,it's just not fair the hate this woman gets. She still a human being she has ****ing feelings to!

No one is giving up on her, let them have their meltdown for the time being and they will come running back praising her name .
I'm so used to it, that now I just don't even bother to comment on it most times.

SMH it's like they expect Britney to return to past "glory" days. We should just be happy this woman is still here making great music for us!
