I didn't mean you, I meant all the ones that are attacking.
And KRL posted a video of GaGa at BBC1 saying "It's not payola, it's manipulation". (not referencing to this). Add that on to how involved in the business aspects she is allegedly in. Don't take that away from her now, ch.

These are called leading items.
The store doesnt make a profit from the phone but theyre to attract buyers into the store. The phones might not be selling as much as they want to so they either up the anti by tacking on things people want like an itunes card/albums etc or put it on sale. Furthermore, if people buy a phone theyll by accessories for that phone at best buy.
Its a marketing stratagy that benefits Best Buy. They wouldn't be giving the album away for free if it didnt bring people in the store

The thing about this too is, this isn't the first thing that something similar has been done with her. Her team payed radio stations to play Born This Way every hour and it had RECORD-BREAKING airplay. So, she's breaking records when people that held those records actually did so without paying people off.
And, I mean I don't really care about that. The record can be broken, and probably will be. But if she's done that, then who's to say her team hasn't been buying copies of their own records on iTunes, which would explain their quick ascension to number 1, but their just as quick decline. If this does count as sales, which I'm doubtful they will, she'll of course get huge, 1Mill+, opening sales. But her sales would've been great regardless, so it's like she only cares about breaking records and being on top, not about her music and it getting the success it deserves.

Also, in the early 90s/2000s these kind of deals were all over the place. I remember you could get an album/singles from buying a certain meal at Burger King. Maybe if other stars and promoters started to realize that promoting isnt just about performing then album sales wouldnt be as ****** as it is. This was commonplace were stars would tack on their albums to products in order to give them attention.

They said that the whole phone/album trick could lead to up to 200k just for that tactic first week. So my question is, is this how many phones are shipped out first week? If so, I can't imagine a shipment of 200k being sold out first week. Will every Best Buy do this?
And artists used to give their albums away for free on TRL and 106&Park (and many other places), so I'm not even sure if this is a huge deal. I'm not saying it's not a big deal, but maybe we don't know all the facts.

That would be the case if Best Buy was facing a decline, which is barely the case. And at the end of the day, you don't have any proof about what you just posted.
But even if you were right, the truth remains: Gaga will gain a rather immense amount of free sales from a free give-away scheme. And that involves a give-away of TWO copies with one smart-phone and one copy with any other ordinary phone from one of the biggest store-chains in America. This is just pathetic and lol-worthy.

I seriously doubt these album giveaways will be counted toward sales. You guys know Billboard wouldn't allow that.
I do think Interscope is shoving this a little too hard down the consumer's throats, however.
A friend of mine works at our local Best Buy mobile and yeah, they don't sell that many phones in one week. During the weekend, they sell most of their units, perhaps 10 per day but during the week there are some days when they sell one. People usually go to their carrier or use Cricket. The carrier shops tend to have bigger rebates. Actually, more people have been using amazon wireless - the phones are WAY cheaper without the hassle of mailing in rebates.
I digress.
I just don't think Billboard will count any of it.
