* The original concept for the album was apparently to include a lot of mid-tempos, and maybe something with a harder rock edge. This was apparently Britney's idea, and Jive even let her start recording some songs, but they didn't really like how it was turning out and wanted something more conventional/radio-friendly. (This could explain the lack of songwriting credits.)

This deserves a thread of its own.

It would be great. It was BRITNEY's idea, we all know how intelligent she is when it comes to music. And well, she surely would be a lot more PASSIONATE about the album - including everything that comes with it, like, let's say, promo - if they let her do what she feels like doing.

i would have LOVED a mids/rock album. I LOVE he about to lose me and don't keep me waiting and her mid tempos on her past albums were always my favorite. SHe should think strongly about going in that directions on the next album, she could sing live and leave the dancing to a minimum.
