Country listeners are traditionally conservatives here in the United States. The conservatives were naturally going to back President Bush's decision at the time (not all conservatives though).The Dixie Chicks basically alienated themselves from their core group of listeners and were on the other side of things, congratulated by non-traditional country listeners for speaking out. In no way were majority of the American public for the Iraq invasion and war.
