Born This Way got its debut performance at the Grammys and she had the biggest radio songs debut of this era. I mean, there is no way on God's green Earth that she is going to be able to have the same or even comparable success with the single...immediately. The song will do fineeee because she has a healthy amount of promo lined up for it.

I'm not saying it should be topping charts already, but I'm most alarmed by the fact that it's not in the Top 10 on iTunes, selling healthily.

Glad you mentioned this. I'm going to cancel my target order asap and order on Amazon as well

that's the amazing thing about Amazon -- they get the pre orders to you the day of release if you choose 2 day shipping, and they almost ALWAYS lower the price prior to release!

Mediatakeout is not even a news source. They are infamous for creating stories and speculation. Unless they have photographic evidence, believe everything they say is a lie.

If critics love the album but it doesn't sell I won't care, infact I will be estatic as it was so well accepted.
If it sells loads but is moderatly accepted (70 odd) I will be happy.
If the album has a low metascore and fails to sell then I may have to turn it in until next era; I can not live with a Bionic and I know if this album fails I don't see Gaga making any more impact in the music industry.

Trust me, I am kinda too. She is the queen of digital sales, after all, so this should not be much of an issue.

Lord...this will not be her Bionic. This is only her second album. The critics love her too much to give her a failing score anyway.

Let me get this out there:
If the album is good and is well accepted within critic circles but doesn't sell, I would not really care for commercial success.
If it sells well and is moderatly-well accepted by critics, I will be happy.
If the album fails to get the critics excited, I will be taking a backseat.
If the album both flops critically and commercial I will be turning in my stan card and will wait for next era, but honestly I don't see Gaga making any more impact in the music industry.

I think I've heard enough to feel like it will generally receive positive reviews. So far the only place I can see reviewers really detracting points are the ones who are going to say that the album is pretentious and that she's over-reaching, and I'm sure some of them will. I hope the full album sounds very tight and coherent.

Honestly, I don't think Born This Way was the wrong lead single. I think it was the only choice for the lead single. But at this point, the performance of Judas is alarming. Yes, I certainly hope it's a Bad Romance waiting to happen, but the difference now is that she is the world's biggest popstar, bar none. Back then, yes, that song was hyped. But this is her time. I'm kind of debating whether it's the fact that Judas is a terrible choice for a second single or if this is just part of the public's general hatred towards her at this point.
If something doesn't change soon (and yes, there is still time), they will to some extent be in deep ****. They must have an extremely high charting and VISIBLE single the week before and the week of the album release. If Judas does not accomplish that by then, something is seriously wrong. The only real emergency escape routes are some massive publicity stunt and releasing a third single undeniable and pushing boatloads of promo behind it. But even this would be a disaster and probably stifle Judas and stop it from being a 2x platinum song. I just don't know.

Yes, I totally agree that Born This Way is the absolute right choice as the 1st single. It basically just have announced to the world what exactly she is about this time around. Its also very clever that she have chosen to release BTW as 1st single, because its not actually that strong as a song, so it would ensure that it will smash due to the massive hype.
This will allow subsequent, actual best materials of the album (Judas, Marry The Night...) to maintain this album afloat throughout the rest of the era.
Also, let us not forget that while Judas is not smashing as hard as we expected it to so far, it remain as one of her strongest single to date and it will bound to smash, just depends on when. She is only starting her promotion aswell.

Mediatakeout is ********. They once promised to leak Drake's penis pictures, I waited for months and I still am at the moment. Nothing released, nothing else but everyday ********.

To be honest, I think the main reason it's the best choice for the first single is because any other single would have seemed almost cowardly.
And to be even more honest, I'm starting to think Judas might be the weakest song on the album and so far even sounds like it's going to stick out from the rest of the material.

I dont like this negative talk about the album... If you want to be negative about the singles released so far go ahead... but don't bring the album into this.

Please dont, thats almost certainly not true with what Redone, Gaga and Garibay said about it...
If you are paranoid about her album flopping, you can rest assured she wont... maybe not 1m, but still some impression numbers. Her promotion schedule is on par with The Fame era and this time, she actually have fans...
