I really don't get what Rihanna (or her team) is / are trying to do. Why is she putting so much effort in ruining her image?
Everything was good until the release of S&M, when she acted all ****ty in the video (Even though that wasn't exactly the intention) it made her look bad, stupid and cheap.
I read an interview with Rihanna in my newspaper couple of days ago, in which she stated that she likes violent sex, likes to be beaten during sex, loved to be controlled. I mean, I know it's not a bad thing to love sex but somethings you just need to KEEP to yourself. Especially your (private) sex life.
And there, she goes and releases the oh-so-boring California King Bed, which talks about a fragile relation and physical / emotional space between two lovers, and Rihanna sings about how she wishes to be intimate again with her mate.
And what does Man Down sing about? shooting a man down during an altercation because they were getting too close.
I mean, how do you even want people to love you when you act like that? When you keep releasing songs about violence and the joy of it, about the love of rough sex?

I don't think she's trying to ruin her image, the public will always perceive her in the way they want to. I think Rihanna's more of a "I don't give a ****" person right now, so whatever she's doing right now it's because SHE wants to. She doesn't care what other people will say about her or her image because she's been through so much, that it's all just whatever to her now. Let the public think what they want, who cares imo. *shrugs*

Some people on this board are too damn stupid for their own good. It's really embarrassing to watch.

How disrespectful. First of all, Rihanna has always been kinky. Check back to the Rated R era when she said for Thanksgiving and Christmas she wanted to have "good sex" and she likes men when they're "big."
Second of all, in that interview, she said she's a masochist and enjoys pain and that type of stuff BECAUSE she witnessed abuse in her household when she was younger, and always kept to herself, and Chris Brown pushed that more, so she's not saying she likes painful sex, she said she thinks she's a masochist and relates to S&M BECAUSE of past experience. And she didnt write S&M anyway...
Also, she needs to release a ballad hun. Her last ballad was Russian Roulette and it flopped, so her last signifcant ballad smash was Take A Bow and CKB is Rihanna's BEST vocal performance ever which will get people to buy the album (ballad's sell).
Man Down is written in the style of a Caribbean song, many Caribbean songs have to do with death and guns, but aren't real, they are metaphors. Second, its a HUGE Urban smash, and everyone I know loves it, and SHE IS Caribbean so EXCUSE ME if she wants to release a song of her culture.
Get over Fading, the most generic, bland song on Loud.

What songs do you want her to sing about then?
I think youre overreacting and making the songs sound worse then they really are. I'm pretty sure rihanna has always been that "kinky" but just hadnt expressed it as much until now, she is a person too and if she isnt afraid to share so much of that detail of her personal life then good for her. Few celebrities are as open to her fans as she is.
And i actually think California King Bed is good for rihanna's image, she hasnt released a ballad and a song like it in a long time. Many singers have recorded story songs like Man Down, and their careers have been fine. If anything it's showing people that rihanna doesnt only sing about love, sex, etc. This is a new territory of music she's stepping into and im sure when the music video comes out it'll be one of her best.
