First of all, can't you people stop with "Born This Way?" It shattered almost every record there was to shatter, including all of Britney's records that she had set just a few weeks earlier. It spent six weeks at #1. Sure, it's falling on iTunes pretty quickly, but it's sales are not going to stop. It will remain relevant as hype for the album comes.
The single received hardly any promotion, either. Sure, she had her banners for one weeks and she had the Grammy performance, but that's it. And please don't point me towards one Japanese commercial that has only ever been really seen by fans on YouTube. That is NOT promo in the sense any of us on here are talking about. That's the type of promo Britney fans might rejoice at getting every once in awhile.
NEXT, PLEASE STOP WITH THE ANTHEM OF OUR GENERATION NONSENSE.
How many times must people point out that she said THE ALBUM is the anthem of our generation, NOT the song, before some of you people are able to understand that.
Born This Way (the song) was clearly meant to have its own little era with little promotion, and was meant to do its part and die down before the real onslaught of promo comes...Born This Way has already sold over 2m copies in such a short time, so I don't think you fans of Rihanna should be here bashing it. After all, she has had how many radio smashes in the past two years? And how many of those have made it to the 3m mark? At least S&M might end up changing that.
Just calm down with undermining Born This Way. It's done everything it was meant to, and it showed that she still isn't afraid to change things up a lot and make songs about what she wants to make them about.
On another note, the S&M banner is an interesting twist...really wondering if it'll top E.T. now.

Also for an artist to call their album "anthem of generation" is just ****ing pathetic, who the **** does she think she is to say that?
I'm 100% sure it won't be MY anthem or any of my friends or any of people I know for that matter.
So next time she should just put out music and shut her mouth

Billboard counts features and that's the way it is. I feel happy because I love both.
If CKB goes #1 she will come for Whitney and in the next album she will come for Madonna, I can't.

First of all, it topped billboard for 6 weeks because it was over-hyped. It doesn't even have a big competition! Plus, some radio stations play the song every hour on its released date.
The song received a lot of promo. Although it wasn't performed 42382326 times, the hype did the promo. Almost every news cover it.
Okay.. I will not call the song the ANTHEM OF OUR GENERATION. But I wonder why the song 'Judas' made into the album called ANTHEM OF OUR GENERATION. It's not even a nice name. I'm so excited to hear the song!

Wouldn't logic tell you that of course a first single from a highly anticipated artist would receive a banner and hype? Duh. How do you know there was a banner in every country?

To continue the constant comparison between Rih and Gaga, OG didn't have a lot of hype going for it either...she performed at the VMA's (LTWYL) and then two days later OG was on itunes and it had a banner...BTW had months of hype going for it. People were anticipating this album and song back in 2010. So if ppl are going to compare OG's 2.8 mil with BTW's 2.2 mil, think for a sec

Terrible excuses. Hype=/= promo. The song could have had massive hype and had flopped like nobody's business. A hyped single doesn't chart like Born This Way remaining atop for SIX weeks. HIAM is more in the line of a #1 single attributing its peak from hype, given it's drop from #1 after just one week.

I understand she is a highly anticipated artist, so that is attributed to the hype for the single. My response wasn't aimed to compare OG and BTW's sales, but rather explain why of course she is going to have a banner.
You still didn't answer my first question and stop being so patronizing.
