I've said this about a million times before (), but it really says a lot that she is a pop star who has reached this level of fame without a Max Martin or Dr Luke backing her. The other pop girls could never have done it. On top of that she did it with her looks, in a music genre so dependent on looks (for example, Adele and SuBo being fat has no negative bearing given the type of music they make), so it makes it all the more impressive.

I don't get why some people here () act as if Gaga stans are delusional sheep. I've never seen such a critical fanbase. Not saying it's necessarily a bad thing, though.

All this talk of whether or not she's peaked/whether she's living up to her expectations is meaningless to me until I hear her album. BTW was okay, nothing special (confession: I never downloaded the song, not even illegally, and I only watched the video once ), but as I've said before, BTW the single seems like an entirely separate, distinct era. I'll wait for the rest of her music before I jump to any conclusions.

And I also do have my doubts like those who've mentioned it but hopefully Judas comes through. My excitement has toned down a bit for it only because I don't want too expect too much and be let down like with BTW. I think Judas will be a very good song, at the very least

IMO, unwavering pessimism isn't necessarily any more realistic than blind optimism, although I do realize its value as a coping mechanism used to pre-emptively curb disappointment.

My pessimism didn't come out of the blue. It is the result of her repeatedly stepping wrong for the past year or so.

I don't really see her stepping wrong though. The only part I see where she got sloppy was with Alejandro.

If we're talking about musically (which I thought we were, since we already established she's only gotten bigger), I don't see how this can be the case. TFM was already out there and done a year ago, and was a pretty big step up from TF as a whole.

I'm not talking about musically. I'm talking about everything else, but I had a feeling it would extend to her music as well. BTW (the single) proved I was right. An OK song at a time when she needed to deliver a killer one.
