It was smart of her to make BTW the first single.

Although Born This Way wasn't my favorite single at all, I believe that it was an outstanding first single for the album. It definitely served its perpose:
-6 weeks at number one with huge sales
-Introduced one of the main themes of the album
-Stirred up more anticipating
-Had a brilliant message
-Made people angry.
