I think in the case of "Tik Tok" it had a ton of Rhythmic support, while Katy has become a Hot A/C staple (I guess she's more palatable to the soccer moms).
But if there's one area you're going to "underperform" I'd rather it be the overall airplay chart than anywhere else.
