This was way less important back when the Hot 100 was basically all about airplay, but since the advent of the iTunes age charting well on the singles chart is soooo dependent on digital sales. There will always be general public response and those people who only buy singles (refuse to buy albums), but will it be enough to keep her competitive if a potential 2 million sales are already excluded by people already having the album?
TF was able to avoid that problem because the album was such a slow burner, and then the TFM re-release was like pushing the reset button on who had the singles vs. the album.

Agreed 100% with this. And also, am I the only one who doesn't really like the idea of an itunes countdowm? Especially for mtn which is supposedly going to be a third single.

I am wondering about that everyday.
I hope that her singles will still sell very well. :-/
And Joe: No, you're not.
I hated it from the beginning.

Selling less singles because the album is doing so well would be a nice problem to have.

I think her singles will be able to get top 5 even with what I am assuming are going to be better then average album sales. We cant expect a number 1/2 for all the singles but I think the singles will be top 5 hits like paparazzi and Alejandro which were singles that suffered from many people already owning the album version.

Oh, I agree, I agree. I just think there might be a situation like Rihanna is having now, where her album is finally selling fast, but her single sales appear to be suffering for it (except obviously at a higher level with Gaga).
Then again, Rihanna's single sales trouble began with Rated Era, and that album struggled with sales, so maybe it's something else with her.

Honestly, I think Gaga saved me.
Before I loved Gaga, I loved Britney and when I did... I was getting hated, being called homo, gay, etc. And with Gaga I sorta get hated but only like 3 times a year.
Britney has that sorta 'gay' feel to her music and Gaga does too BUT she has hardcore sounding songs like Reloaded, Poker Face, Just Dance, etc. Whilst last month someone looked in my Diary and noticed I had written 'Hold It Against Me' and they started...
One month after (last week) I written Dont Be A Drag, Just Be A Queen in my diary. One of the 'cool' people saw it and went "Hey, do you have that song on your phone? I really want it!" I was shocked... I get hated over Britney but not Gaga, really... Gaga saved me from hatred or a chance of me punching someone.

Britney's music has a sex appeal vibe to it that connects with a lot of party gays, in my opinion.

So Rebecca Black came out with a rap remix...
I'm not joking, people are going to buy it. Gaga NEEDS to release the acoustic.

Yes, but actually I do agree that there's probably more of a perception that if you're an adult guy and you like Britney you must be gay as compared to being a fan of Gaga (I think that's a big reason why Gaga has 30m FB fans to Britney's 8m even they they're comparable on Twitter, which is more anonymous).
Gaga's the big mainstream music star now, and started out having appeal to younger but still mature adults, whereas Britney started out being seen as a teenybopper act and she never shook that stigma. So it's sort of like a guy being into something like Hannah Montana in a way (not saying you can't be a straight guy and like Britney, only talking about perceptions here).
Additionally, Gaga has more of hard edge with her wilingness to embrace the grotesque aesthetic that I think makes her a lot more palatable/intriguing to some straight guys than some one who's just doing dance pop.

I don't think that she forgot it. I think she is trying to spread it out to satiate the craving for new GaGa material.

Friday (Acoustic)
Lady Gaga:
Born This Way
Born This Way (Remixes)
She needs to release the acoustic or else Rebecca might rise, I got told she's 21 on iTunes.

I'm hardly a fan but I'm really impressed that Britney is still around - let alone getting #1s - after starting off as a Justin Bieber-like phenomenon.
Then again she's been very smart about always giving people what they love about her - like Gaga never straying away from her Just Dance/Poker Face image/formula that worked so well.

No, I agree, but still... it's never exactly been "cool" to admit you like Britney, even from the start, something I don't see Bieber ever shaking either no matter how long he manages to last. Justin was able to escape it by essentially being able to sever ties with the boy band thing and go solo.
